![]() Still no reason to upgrade from my 1080Ti. Please dear God let Intel drop something next year that competes. I'm not paying $1300 for a GPU. |

![]() I'm just glad Navi is looking like it's shaping up better than Vega. Don't get me wrong, Vega can be serviceable, but let's be honest it could have been a lot better. |

![]() Doesn't the price cut kind of wash away the DOA aspect? |

![]() If anything it almost seems like it’s the 2060S that’s DOA now with the new pricing. If the 5700XT is aimed at matching or slightly beating the 2070 and the 2060S is slightly slower than the 2070 then there’s really no reason to buy it (besides a handful of ray tracing games) now that the 5700XT and 2060S will be launching at the same price. Just a few more hours and we’ll have benches to tell for sure |

We got the impression from a few vega reviews that there were bottlenecks in gaming... I remember it being talked out in general but it wasnt investigated in depth nor did we find out how bad it was. But seems we left about 50% if not more perf on the table just due to the architecture. a 4096 shader part with 256 text units shouldve been a lot faster. I thought it was the 64 rops at the time and we were losing maybe 10-15% but the 5700XT seems to say its other things... cache maybe I dunno...

![]() ![]() Got in, picked up a Sapphire RX5700XT, went up to the counter and manager tells me they can't take my Web only VISA Gift Card. So I'm like, "Yo Bro, surely I can buy this card on the website and do a Will Call pick up amirite?" "Sorry, you can't buy anything on our website". "Wut?" ... No worries, toss the card back on the shelf. Put gift AMD bag back in the bin to a line of onlookers, that are like WTF just happened. LAUGHING ALL THE WAY OUT THE DOOR. I'm sure the bloke is doing me a favor, waiting for benches and a few days to buy either the 2070 Super or maybe still a RX5700XT with a better cooler. ![]() Cool experience and awesome to see so many folks out on a Sunday morning to buy AMD stuff. ![]() |

![]() So I read AMD has locked 5700 OC.. that's a bit shiit. I understand they're segmenting their [limited] GPU's, but FFS that's piss poor... I've never seen Nv do that sort of thing.. I was all for AMD but this money grab has left a sour taste in my mouth.. I actually like 5700 too. No money from me I'm afraid - and I was willing to replace my HTPC with 3600 + 5700... Poor form from AMD..

![]() Acroig, I have literally, I Sh$t you not, put the RX 5700XT and the RTX 2070 Super in the shopping cart of Newegg about half a dozen times and balked at the last second. I am doing my best to force myself to wait till mid-August when the AIB's will come out. I have my heart set on the RX, but that 2070 Super AIB's keep teasing the hell out of me. AMD really have screwed the pooch with this ridiculous choice to go with a blower cooler. I laid into their project VP on Reddit yesterday in his thread. Why AMD doesn't have their partner AIB's cards out the same time as their reference model is ridiculous. Nvidia does, and they should too. |

![]() ACK! RAN INTO PROBLEMS. Hey Peoples, Installing RX5700XT to replace my GTX 970 and getting an error on boot up on my monitor. "The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to 1920x1080, 60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications." Things I have done so far:
This sucks, I can even see a post screen or anything and the only other monitor in the house is the exact same make and model. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

![]() When the computer boots up all I see is the error message on my display. It looks and sounds like the pc is completely booted up but I can't see a thing. Can see post screen, bios etc. Put the Nvidia card back in and I can see everything just fine. Did I get a broken card or something? ![]() https://i.imgur.com/fgWBoL5.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/2D5y74s.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/mXz5uOa.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/O7gIh73.jpg?1 ***UPDATE*** It's looking like my Dell SE2717H monitor is known to have issues with Radeon cards. I found a quick fix and let me see if that works. ***UPDATE 2*** Apparently, my Dell FREE SYNC monitor doesn't work with Radeon video cards. *Flips table - picks up flamethrower - torches home and walks away. ![]() Ok, so get a load of the afternoon and night I've had. ![]() Came home before UPS guy got here. Turned on PC....nothing. My Antec 1000 Watt PSU bought in 2006, **** the bed. Hussle my ass to Microcenter, picked up new Corsair RM 850X. Some SATA Cables and even RGB light strip. Come home, do Nvidia 970 UEngine Benchmark. https://i.imgur.com/9pcHmUk.jpg?2 Then put in Radeon card...doesn't work, get error message on monitor saying timing isn't supported. SPEND 3 HOURS TROUBLESHOOTING. *Finds out that the Dell FREE SYNC monitor I own has loads of issues with Radeon cards. Runs, upstairs for a La Croix and realizes I'm staring at a big monitor in my living room...aka our TV. Plugs in PC upstairs, VOILA' comes right up, installs drivers, everything great. Here's the kicker. The DELL monitor still won't show anything during POST until Windows is completely loaded. SO I will need to get a HDMI or Displayport adapter to VGA if I need to work in the bios. ****ING BULLSHIT. But, the card is wicked quick, not loud at all- and it doubled the Uengine bench without any overclocking, AND my PC memory timings are stock because I updated the bios and it cleared my profiles. NICE CARD, worth the trouble. https://i.imgur.com/Z9LsQb0.jpg?1 |

Never in my 25 years of computing, have I ever seen a monitor not be able to show a default vga image. It's patently absurd that a monitor bought two years ago can't show the post screen for a Radeon card. Especially if it's a bloody FreeSync monitor. I will get a 144Hz model in the future, but I sure as **** didn't expect that I needed one today. I will be giving Dell loads of ****, come Monday. Hopefully they make a deal with me. |

![]() 10 years unless it's one of the newer high end seasonic/corsair units. they have 13-10 year warranties. ( a company will not warranty something that long unless they are fairly confident it will last at min that long)

![]() I don't know. If you tweaked the Vega56 right you got some pretty awesome results. That said, I never bought one as I just don't need the level of power being offered as a lowly 1080p user. And Drivers... ffs the state of drivers is pretty damn good. I'm getting sick of the over blown carp about them at this point.( both sides drivers are fine)

![]() 7% isnt bad but ocing by 18% means it is either memory bottleneck or driver issue. For all we know there might be some feature not enabled yet like we saw with early vega drivers. The perf is still amazing tho if all over the place. The idea even a couple games can match or beat a 2080 or even a 2080ti for 400$ is mind boggling. I say wait for aib's for affordable cooling and decent ocs and driver revisions. Should add another 5% easy there maybe more as its an all new architecture.

![]() I wouldn't expect miracles just by going with water cooling with any graphics card. The advantage is lower noise for the most part. Maybe you squeeze a couple more percent out of it compared to air cooled, but it's not like you're going to get 50% more performance. |
