Default tiny switch on 4870x2??

Does anyone know what the two little switches next to the crossfire connection is for?

Yes thank you. My P5W DH us x8 x8. does that mean I should flip that switch? I have been trying to crossfire my 4870 and 4870x2. My computer only sees the x2 so I cant enable crossfire in ccc. Also I removed and installed the new drivers several times
This is my current build
QX6700
P5W DH deluxe
4 gigs corsair xms2
Silverstone op1000
150g wd Raptor
Zalman LQ1000
Saphire 4870x2
Windows xp
