I'm pleased for Chevy on the launch of the C8. Overall, it's been positive messages across the interweb. Yes, there are some diehard Vette fans that are not pleased with the new direction. However, I think they will begin to appeal to a new set of buyers (and more European buyers) with the C8.

It's probably the first Corvette that has made me actually consider buying one (as a street car).

For years I've watch UK reviewers say the Vette was a great value BUT you can't get it with the steering wheel on the correct side. I expect the C8 will sell well in the UK.

I think it's a clear shot across the bow to Boomers, that they won't continue to try to appeal to them.

I just saw it and I admit I liked this new design and yes, I also knew that they will still using OHV 6.2L V8. I'm so glad they used that instead of throw a twin turbo V6. But sadly, no manual option though. lol.

On second thought, I want to see Z06 and ZR1 versions of this.

That's the shitty part for me. I could easily afford one, but I have a family, and the kids will need cars in 4-6 years. Just can't justify wasting that kind of cash on something that I would rarely drive anyway, because I work from home.

I'll just trade my tundra in for a new truck later this year, and spend 25K or so on that transaction, and be good for the next 6-10 years.

A man can dream though...

I thought it looked like a blend of a lot of different mid engine cars. Then, earlier this afternoon I decided to do a direct comparison with the C7 using side by side photos of front view and side view (not rear, we all know that's totally different).

Now I think it looks like a mid engine C7. All the lines are the same, and it's a fantastic natural progression to the new platform. Contrary to popular belief, GM actually did their homework on this one.

Two things come to mind after watching that video...

How the **** is having 1 mile of buttons in a row "intuitive" or helpful? It looks like you'll be 100% forced to look down at those buttons any time you want to use one. Sure, I don't know what all those buttons do right now but that's sort of the problem. It's literally just a long line of buttons in a row. No obvious visible logical groupings. Some of them look like they could be traction control buttons or sport mode type buttons, others look like window seat buttons?

That gear shifter... do not want

When you pull a shifter back into gear, you want the feeling of hammering the throttle on an F-18 before screaming down the runway blaring mother****ing DANGER ZONE through every speaker in the car. Those buttons look, just wrong. Does this mean it's only available in an automatic?

Looks like it's the longest and widest Corvette, so not surprising it's also the heaviest.

As much as the rear-mid engine layout helps weight distribution, I think it would help further if they replaced that 6.2L V8 with a smaller, turbocharged 6 cylinder. They could have gone full Ford GT then.

How would this have helped, exactly? The LS/LT engines have never really been very heavy.

Mass is mass. Having less of it overall, concentrated further inwards is always better.

You're missing the point. The LS/LT engines aren't heavy. I'd be willing to bet the Ford GT engine with it's turbos and other hardware could actually be heavier.

The main argument for lower displacement engines with FI is fuel consumption. They don't need tricks like shutting down half of the cylinders to get decent numbers. Personally, I prefer high revving engines but everyone will have their own personal preference for what they like and dislike in a vehicle.

The more I read about it, for $60k, this car is a complete bargain.

Well done Chevrolet.
