Default Took my phone for a swim!

Still rocking my original smartphone...Galaxy S3. Don't see the need to change to a new phone and contracts in Canada are beyond stupid expensive now (still on an old corporate rate that I can't beat).

Decided to take my phone for a swim last weekend....first time since owning the phone that anything has happened to it. I was getting out of a boat while still trying to hold the boat to the dock with one foot and stepping onto the dock with the other. It was a floating dock that wasn't well made and when I stepped onto the corner it sunk a lot more than what I was expecting and my foot fell off so I went into the water! First time falling off a boat or dock and I did both at once

Water was 50F so it was a bit nippy! Considering how long I was in the water and how much water came out of my phone I thought it was dead for sure (phone was on when I went in). Sure enough it wasn't responsive when I got out.

I took the battery out as soon as I could and when I got back home I took the phone apart and put the opened phone electronics by a fan to dry it out overnight. I certainly wasn't expecting anything but the next day I put everything back together and it worked like nothing happened. Tested everything and nothing was affected at all.

Colour me surprised and happy!

The Galaxy S3 was the most stable Android phone ever created. It liked to suck the battery but that was fixed by adding a huge 7 ah battery to it.

I'm still getting a lot of use from my 2+ year old Galaxy S5. And, it does have a certain amount of water proofing by design.

Coming up on 4 years with my ATT Galaxy S3.

This thing is beast mode and even now I don't have many complaints about it.

Running Cyanogenmod 12.1 like a boss.

Been running stock firmware since day 1...have no idea how to root my phone and what the benefits are other than a slight boost in battery life.

I'd imagine it takes way too much reading and steps to do

For me it's newer androind version and ad blockers for when I'm out and about. Every byte counts since its a family plan and we all have to share 10 gb. Not to mention cleaner experience and less lag browsing.
