Default Is an iPod touch worth it if I already have an iPhone?

I currently have an iPhone 6s 128 GB and an iPod touch 32 GB 5th generation. I keep everything on the iPhone except music. Only music goes on the iPod touch and everything else is on the iPhone. Right now, I only have about 2 GB free on the iPod touch. I'm thinking of selling it and getting a new iPod touch 128 GB. Plus, with the latest iOS, the iPod touch is lagging like hell. I don't know if it is because of the dated processor or because it is almost full (storage wise).

The reason I keep music off of my iPhone is because I listen to quite a lot of music and don't want to keep draining my phone's battery.

Any thoughts/opinions/comments?

I'd just buy a battery pack, so if you do drain your battery you're good. Seems wasteful to have a redundant device considering how cheap a battery pack is.

I also don't really want 32 GB of music stored on my phone. I want the most space available for apps, photos, videos, etc.

You would still have something like 90gb of space. Is that not enough? I couldn't imagine that, I use maybe half of my 64gb iPhone.

Not sure. I currently have 106 GB free on my iPhone with everything (few apps, few photos, one video) except music on it. Putting 32 GB of music on it as well will result in around 74 GB free. While it still seems like a lot, I think I'd still prefer to keep music off of it.

If you're not filling it up with content you're wasting the capacity away.
USE it!

Isn't 'SSD-like' storage faster when it is less full?

I don't think it affects read. SSD slow down because it has to empty the block before writing. I assume the OS will maintain the nand so you'll never notice the degradation. I never seen anyone test the phone's nand like an SSD.
You should fill it up and find out. I couldn't find anything on google. so I guess it's not much of an issue for iphones.

Unless you're using the ipod in a different fashion than the phone just keep it all on the phone. I have a 16 gig Nano I still use because it's my workout partner. I also have a 5S which has some music on it for in the car while out and at work. I'm reluctant to use my phone working out because I'm a klutz and constantly injure myself or break ****.
