Porn Played During Zoom Class At Florida High School

Students at Titusville High School in Florida were exposed to a pornographic video during an online class. While the school said the call was quickly terminated after the video started to play, one parent said it was on the screen long enough for students to record a video of what was going on.

Dave Cavolo told WESH that his daughter felt "victimized" after the incident. He said that she provided a statement to the police, hoping it will help them catch the perpetrator.

"Not only does she feel victimized by what she saw, and she keeps telling me, 'I can't stop reliving this,' I understand that but I wanted her to grab some of her personal power back, so the police officer swore her in, and she gave testimony under oath what she witnessed," Cavolo told the news station.

School officials said they are working with the police to find out who was responsible for playing the pornographic video and promised to increase security protocols and provide additional training to staff members to ensure nothing like this happens again.

"We have worked closely with our educational technology team as well as the administration at THS to reinforce security measures and protocols as well as provide additional training. The incident was reported to both police and Zoom security for further investigation. While incredibly frustrating, we want to assure our families that we will continue to do all we can to provide a safe learning environment in the midst of a very challenging and unusual school year," Brevard Public Schools spokeswoman Katherine Allen said in a statement.

Sorry but your post is beyond idiotic. In absolutely no way does xCLAVEx advocate that playing porn to a minor is acceptable...his point is that her reaction is likely FAR overblown and likely fake. Anyone who knows high school kids at all knows that probably 95%+ are likely exposed to things like this or worse fairly regularly.

It could be that this is the most sheltered and "pure" child in all of high school but that's highly unlikely. What's more likely is that she's playing the "traumatized" card because of her parents. What do you wanna bet some money will be sought after this? People are scum plain and simple...there will always be that one person who reacts 10x worse than everyone else and usually for a nefarious purpose.

This...and what 13 year old is in high school? This is why I hate people in general, they are overly judgmental, jump to the wrong conclusions, then pile on. You got it it right though, not surprised several did not.

Of course it's a crime and should be punished showing a minor porn, but this isn't showing some 8 year old porn, these are at a minimum 15-16 year olds. I agree this is very likely pushed by the parents to be blown waaaaaaaaaay out of proportion, as several here are doing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but a 15 yo is still a minor, no? As a parent I would want to know WTF happened but there's always someone that's extra sensitive. Not all 15 yo are alike, some are more... sheltered.

A Millikan High School teacher is on leave today after students said he briefly browsed pornography during a virtual class session on Zoom.

Students saw the graphic material because the teacher was sharing his screen with the class, according to one student, who provided photos and a video showing a portion of what allegedly happened.

The 20-second clip shows a user named “Thomas Lind” scrolling through pornographic videos and then clicking on one.

The Long Beach Post is not sharing the video because it includes graphic material and identifying information of students.

Millikan teacher Thomas Lind was placed on paid administrative leave today while school officials investigate, according to Long Beach Unified School District spokesman Chris Eftychiou.

“Our school district received reports today that inappropriate material was shared on screen during a distance learning class period at Millikan High School,” Eftychiou said in an email. “The school district is notifying the school community by email that we are investigating the matter.”

Lind, who teaches the senior project class at Millikan’s magnet program, did not immediately respond to a message on Facebook, a voicemail left at a number listed for him or a message left with the teacher’s union.

Word of what happened spread quickly among students, according to a senior in one of Lind’s classes who did not witness the incident firsthand but quickly started getting messages about Lind allegedly looking at pornography.

The student, who asked not to be named for fear of being retaliated against, said some of Lind’s students confronted the teacher during a class later in the day.

In a Zoom chat with the class, Lind said he’d accidentally stumbled across the pornography, which someone else had left open among at least another dozen windows on the computer, according to a screenshot of the conversation.

Lind reportedly wrote: “I started moving windows around to find what I wanted, completely forgot screen share was on. When I saw that screen I was shocked and curious.”

“I was not planning to watch anything, but I had not seen anything like that in quite some time,” the screenshot shows Lind writing. “I am mortified and ashamed it was on here in the first place.”

TLDR; Teacher browsed porn during session, students caught him and then confronted him about it, then teacher was placed on leave pending investigation. None of them claimed they were "traumatized" over this, but the teacher was still punished for it. Not sure if he was charged with anything, but this also happened recently. Now the students aren't expected to confront the teacher over it, but somebody should and the students decided to do this but the end result was the same. This is how you handle a situation like this.
