Default nV

any of ya noticed downloads of dawn are corrupted from nVidia site?
got some friends unable to download that file with anythinf (from wget over getright to pure ie) ...

shame on Nvidia that 3rd party site got that file on faster and stabler line ...

poor nV goes downhill where is S3 or SIS or Trident or Matrox, we need more players here lol

Ok, i got home and did the Dawn thing...

Bottom line.. It is just not that Impressive. Yes teh Chick looks great. But seriously, *THIS* was supposed to be what wowed everyone about the advanced capabilities of the CinFX engine??? I laugh out loud!!!. It does not even begin to Tap what a REAL Dx9 Rendering engine should be doing. Its freaking sad. It just makes me all the more irritated that Nvidia is constantly getting pamperd and hooted over.

The Nv30 is *supposed* to have all kinds of advanced Pixel shader features that the R3xx series doesnt. Like Googaags of Instruction branching, and Flow Control and 100 other Catch Phrases they throw around. Yet this demo runs FASTER on a 9700 and the SAME on a 9500. Its stupid. No dynamic Background nothing. All that crap they talkied about 3dmark03 and i bet MAYBE 10% of that entire DEmo uses Real DX9 functionality.

Id like to see how close a PS 1.4 Rendering could come. My bet. Pretty Damn close.

there is no nude patch needed !!

just rename the fairy.exe to quake3.exe or 3dmark03.exe

Nvidia left this open for there own pleasure :-x

Dawn isn't really more imperssive than the chimp demo more appealing maybe , Jane would probably be the better choice for ATi/s demo than chitta

the ogor demo though is really cool , i've seen it on a friends fx5800.
I hope we will see a wrapper for the ogor demo , the animations are fantastic

Just wanted to say, running a tbird 1.4 and Dawn crashes with me as well. I'm sure its the same error with those guys. I'm guessing its a detection problem. Hehe time to ugprade to a new cpu sometime in the fall.

Someone thought I wasn't running a card with 128, ahh I'm using a 9800 Pro so I'm sure it would work.

I think I am doing something wrong.. I put the file into the dawn/bin/ folder, I upgraded to dx9a, and I am running win2k. I still get the message "this program requires an nvidia geforce-class GPU or better to run" even with my 9500->9700.

Since there is talk about 'better' demos for showing off vid cards... here a cool (if no so sexy) DX9 PS2.0 one.

http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/index.html

Some sad iimages from the site (only 640x480), you can do much better. I'd post my pic but don't know how
You can change textures, lighting, models etc.

You are suppose to un-zip it first then copy it to that folder.
