Only mention of Titanfall is to say its broken. Sigh... was hoping they'd maybe support this title in a timely manner. Maybe they didn't know about it. After all with the limited press coverage of the game.

Thief Mantle benchmarks!

A very quick run on my machine: Phenom2 x6 @3.8ghz, and single R290X, 1920x1200, all settings maxxed except SSAA turned off (I'd read there's some conflict between FXAA & SSAA, dunno if true), Catalyst 14.3

DirectX Mantle
Min 29.0 57.4
Max 92.2 111.7
Avg 44.4 78.1

I can confirm this:

Code:
2560x1080
Min FPS Avg FPS Max FPS
DirectX 42,3 66,1 92,2
Mantle 24 42,7 58,5

1920x1080
DirectX 44,3 65,6 104
Mantle 41,3 52,3 70,4
That is with all settings maxed, including SSAA set to High.

S!

Thief works excellante with these drivers. Ran the benchmark with all maxed out at 1920x1080 121Hz, field of view 100. Minimum: 58.1fps Maximum: 95.4fps Average: 70.1fps. Not bad at all.

OK, just tested some single GPU performance. There is something really strange going on. With Mantle and only one 7970, the game won't go in Fullscreen, it stays in borderless window, no matter what you set it to be (keeps reverting the option).

Therefore, my single GPU results are kind of bugged... Really annoying. Staying with DX on Thief for now. Works solid and flawless.

All results:

Yeah, this is why I don't use either DDU or AMD cleaner utility. I always do manually uninstall AMD driver by use express uninstall, reboot, remove all the AMD/ATI registry, remove the folders from local roaming/local folder which can be seen the hidden folders if enabled from the folder options. Also remove the AMD folder from program files folder too. Then reboot. Install the new driver. Final restart...

Express Uninstall (I use it, too) does delete one of the AMD folders, which I know because after using it and then installing a new driver I'm always asked if I want to create a new AMD folder...the AMD folder that the Uninstall utility deletes is in c:\ root, and is the folder that contains the decompressed Catalyst driver installs. Even though I don't use the uninstall utility anymore, I still started downloading my drivers to an "AMD driver" folder, JIC... Of course, as you know, the Express Uninstall routine doesn't delete that folder.

Edit: The folder that I'm asked to create is the "ATi" folder, not another "AMD" folder....

I've yet to have Express Uninstall fail, and haven't had a Catalyst install hose my system in so many years I can't remember the last time something like that happened. It's no fun when it does, though, I'm sure...

Not done it for a while but this driver set seemed to update or interfer with a USB driver or something as I had a warning pop up stating something could run better on the USB port, rebooted then stuck on W7 boot screen, repair couldn't fix it... however, went back to previous workable boot and made it back in !

Scary driver set.

I see...but I'm pretty positive that there would be still some AMD/ATI files, registry, and folders leftover and especially if even when express uninstall fails to remove the AMD folder from the program files where it used to extracted the drivers. It's better to remove them than mess up with something else or conflict things. I always do the double check everything before install the new driver.

I'm pretty sure express uninstall all amd drivers will bork your raid driver as well. AMD should make the raid driver an option to uninstall considering how important it is to the OS (hence the probable cause of lurk's situation )

I remember running a raid array on one of my earlier rigs then stupidly ran one of those live Ubuntu cds and it took out my raid driver even though they categorically stated that the live cd does not do anything to your system.

No question!...I like Express Uninstall because of what it doesn't remove between installs...namely, my game profiles! The uninstaller utility gets even them, however. Like you, I'll stick with Express Uninstall. I was just commenting on the ATi folder being deleted by the EU--to each his own, right?....

What did you try to do to your brother's rig? Did you try to do manually uninstalled the old driver as I posted previously above? BTW, do not use the AMD cleaner utility. That thing could mess up only if it's the AMD based machine.

He tried just a benign uninstall and reinstall of the new betas.

I noticed that he had not installed drivers for some of the bluetooth stack etc for the board so I did that and looking at dependencies that could be a cause for errors.

My fault as I did this for him but it;s looking probable that it may be connected.

After installing this driver first, my system stopped booting, so I had to repair and revert the changes.

I reinstalled without the "SATA AHCI" driver and it worked just fine.

So a warning to you guys... this beta SATA driver seems incompatible with some motherboards.

The rest of the driver's just fine, works like a charm for my R9 290x OC.

Fixed my brothers problem with these drivers causing bluescreens... it was caused by his bluetooth drivers.

Updated those and made sure everything was installed correctly and so far so good, not a single crash.

I'm glad to hear about that you were able to fix all of that stuff. I knew it was something else that conflicted, not just the video card driver. BTW, I'm still using the 14.2 Beta because it's a stable driver and no issues here, so I won't touch the 14.3 Beta until 14.4 Beta comes out and see if it is a good driver or not.
