Default MS Office free for android phones...

Nice!

Quote:
Today’s big news was that Microsoft Office was now available for iPad for those with an Office 365 subscription, but a bit of Android-related goodies were tucked inside the blog posts that you might care about. Starting today, Office for Android (and iPhone, if you care) is being made completely free.

It's not really free... It's "free" if you're already paying an Office 365 subscription. They circumnavigate paying a cut to Apple and Google that way.

Its free for iphone and android phones, not free for ipads and android tablets. Using it now on my nexus5, not offered for my samsung 8.4, and I have no subscription.

Have you used it with PowerPoint?

Yup. The only thing i dont like about it is that the only option to saving is to your one drive. Not locally. Not sure if there's a way around that. Then again its like quickoffice with gdrive.

Try opening a *.doc file and editing it. Noticed that it doesn't allow for it.

*.docx it can do. It's an odd distinction to make.

SharePoint 2013 and 2010 did the same thing; no old formats allowed!

I think most MS office software relies heavily on XML, which isn't a part of the old office formats (I think).
