Not yet. I'm in the Seattle QZ on my way to find that woman. I hit a place where I'm trying to explore so i don't miss anything, but I'm getting bored pretty quickly. Hear WLF guys, run up and kill them, then bored again lol.

I just quit at a turnstyle kind of gate...I still can't play that long before my arm/shoulder gives out and I have to quit, but hopefully I'm close. I need to see something new soon....

Game is quite long if you try finding all the crap. I did attempt it and finished in 30 hours but could’ve easily done it in 20. My suggestion would be to play for the story first only. You will have a lot more fun then.

That sounds like good advice I've let myself get tied up like this in games before and it ruins it for me. Next time in I'll just press on forward.

Yes some exploring here and there is fine and reading some notes is fun but if you continue to hunt for everything you gonna have a bad time. The things to look out for are weapons and upgrades. Those typically will show up organically with some thorough clearing out of mostly linear areas. Also work benches and meds are important to upgrade skills but at the end of the game I had done only all safes, work benches and weapons. I did not care for cards or coins and all artifacts.

Am I the only one who doesn't like Naughty Dog's abuse of the "killers can't kill intended target" cliche? I know they didn't create that, but they have mastered it with the Uncharted games. Whether it's Nathan, Abby or Ellie, we mass murder through our avatar without hesitation, neither from nerves or morals, yet when faced with the our main enemy, suddenly, we have a conscience, or we can't hit the braid side of a barn, or mostest stupidest of em all, they have improbable leverage. "You can't kill me Nathan, I have a VHS cassette of you dressed as girl playing pretty princess, and if I don't make a call within the next 10 minutes, your grandma will have it on her facebook page muahaha.

Seriously, I feel like the never ending repetition of same battles over and over greatly diminished the impact of key scenes including the ending. If Ellie wasn't already a cold blooded killer, her decisions in the false ending to ditch her family and resume her quest for revenge on someone who has twice spared her and her true ending decision to spare her would have had more impact.

I think Naughty Dog should have wrote a book or movie instead of a game that requires frequent action sequences.

yeah that's how I'm running it now. I just got into the military zone and I'm guessing I'll find out who the scars are soon from the chatter. I hope they're a good addition to the game

Two things really jump out at me. The game is so linear it's ridiculous, but in spite of that I always feel like I'm missing something. Incredible job with the set pieces and maps, really beautiful, in an apocolypse now kind of way

Yet some people are choosing to only call out this game and/or Naughty Dog. I wonder why that is?

When you finish you can go back and complete some areas if you want.

I actually really like the exploring part myself. There are some clues and puzzles involved and it is a nice break from the intense battles.

While waiting on Ghost of Tsushima, I decided to play a little New Game+. I set custom difficulty so ammo and crafting drop like crazy while enemies are harder. This play through I am doing the no stealth kill approach and going Rambo style on all levels. Runners are super annoying on survivor+ difficulty as they are faster and basically helicopter flail each arm at you so dodging is nearly impossible. And, hiding in grass only sorta works as enemies still see you from a good distance and dogs have super sniffers. (Probably more realistic). Good thing I have all my upgraded weapons from my first play through. Pew..pew...

It’s fun and different experience as I relied too much on the dishonorable kills in the first play through. It’s faster action and I am learning to use more of the killing tools they give you than the first time. Molotov cocktails are good for solving almost any sticky situation.

I really did a mix of stealth and action in my first playthrough. Towards the end I was so done with idiots roaming around that I would just try to take out 1 or 2 silently and then go all guns blazing. You would be surprised how stupid AI can be. Most times you throw a rock at glass and 2-3 come around there and then burn them. Same with dogs. I would always take out dogs with Molotov cocktails because I hated having to stab them.

Check this video for more action. I love the stun bomb usage and hostage taking this guy does.

Warning to everyone who hasn’t finished the game, it’s end game action. So don’t click on the link inside the spoiler tags:

I'm literally dying from boredom. It's bad when the only way to see action is to run around triggering all the tripwires

I hope it picks up a bit. At the TV station btw...

Action ramps as you get more gear. But, due to the requirements to scavenge all your materials and ammo, the pacing is usually action - explore - action - explore. Give it until at least the end of day 2 in Seattle. By then, the game has pretty much hit full stride.

I have to admit, that little sequence getting out of the TV station was pretty darn cool. That's the game play I was looking for.

I've been hoping. They reference them multiple times prior to getting into the theater, so I'm expecting an introduction soon.

I wish you could see the video I posted (don't until you finish). It's a player clearing out a ton of enemies on survivor difficulty near the end of the game. He is very aggressive and constantly on the move. The video looks exactly like an extended scene from a John Wick film. You can't watch the video yet. But, be sure and channel some John Wick when you meet up with those Scars!

That's what I've been doing. I love the stealth, but I think it ought to be limited to scoping out areas/enemy count otherwise it's just boring after shanking the 20th enemy.

It isn't hard to get a rhythm going with molotovs/firearms/stun/firearms. It sounds like that won't change much with the scars.

I just arrived at the first area in Day 2...I hear puppies...

Not sure if I saw it mentioned here, but there is an auto-loot option for things in the accessibility menu that takes a lot of the tedious bits of the game out to make it a little quicker between bouts of rage. Still have to open drawers and cabinets, but if you have room for the material, she'll pick it up automatically. Literally was a game changer that I found out about just as I was starting Seatle Day 1 - Redux......

That level made me change enemy difficulty from Survivor+ to Hard+ in my New Game+. They spot you super easy and once spotted they rush from all sides. One missed shot and you are down. There is a big difference in enemy AI the harder the difficulty. Their reaction times and vision are realistic and they are fricken merciless once they are on you. Especially a pack of runners. Hard+ is plenty tough for me. I think I am going to turn down Stealth setting too. On Survivor+ all enemies heads are on swivels and they spot you all the way across the map. Playing the game on Survivor must be a lot like Sekiro. Die and adjust tactics, die and adjust tactics, … , repeat until level done. I do not have the patience for that right now. My John Wick skills are too limited...

And suddenly back in another flashback. This is turning into a real slog. The pacing is all over the place and it feels like going nowhere.

edit: Am I at least close to the hospital? I hope so because there's not much here making feel like I want to push on.

You are starting to sound like me on these games. Granted, my judgment of a game is 95% based on the gameplay loop. Story is always a very small part of how I ultimately judge a game (they are games not movies, after all).

Naughty Dog's games are just bloated, tedious, repetitive, and boring IMO. Ever since the first Uncharted game, Naughty Dog have been full of themselves thinking they are so talented which means they can make their games super long doing the same tasks over and over because we all love the gameplay so much. The gameplay is OK, but like everything should be in moderation. Too much of doing the same thing and after a while it makes good gameplay BORING. Since their gameplay lacks depth, if they consolidated their games into a smaller more efficient package they MIGHT be worthy of the praise they get.

It's such a mixed bag so far...where it's amazing, it's incredible, but there's not enough, and not the same focus the first game had. I'm all for multi pronged stories, but only if they don't take away from each other's significance.

TLoU 1 had a tight, focused goal that lent a feeling of urgency throughout the entire game and this just doesn't. I'm really hoping it gets more consistent soon. I don't want to finish the game just because, I'd rather finish it because it's exciting.

Sigh lol

Naughty Dog's games are just bloated, tedious, repetitive, and boring IMO. Ever since the first Uncharted game, Naughty Dog have been full of themselves thinking they are so talented which means they can make their games super long doing the same tasks over and over because we all love the gameplay so much. The story is first in this game so you won’t like it. If you don’t enjoy storytelling it’s not for you. It’s not super long. But they do try and weave multiple stories together. So it wouldn’t be something you would like.

You spend the night in the theater so day 2 is next. But, you still may have a problem with the rest of the game. If you can’t get invested in the story its going to be slog. Flashbacks only exist to tell story and there will be a couple. I liked how they tied the events of the two games together and focused on Ellie and Joel’s relationship. The first game had no need for flashbacks since it was first. But, if slowing the action to fill in story is really annoying. I am not sure you will see the end of this one.

I've already spent the night in the theater...it isn't the story aspect of it. I love a solid story and fully recognize that's what these games are about. It's the game's pacing and placement of events. It just doesn't feel like it flows as smoothly as the first.

It also might not help that they're already indicated where they're going with this, which is great story telling, but again it's a question of the pace, the when, where and how everything seems to be set to be revealed.

I dunno - it's not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. It just doesn't hold up well to my memories of the first game .....yet.
