Default CD Projekt RED Designer Departs

Artur Ganszyniec's LinkedIn Profile indicates he has parted ways with CD Projekt RED, the Polish development studio where his work included The Witcher/The Witcher Enhanced Edition and "Unannounced AAA title," presumably The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Artur's experience at the company ends with his role as principal designer, listed as January 2008 – February 2010, and his current position is listed as "Freelance Game Designer, Writer."

doesn't mean he has stopped working for them, just that they changed his contract and he is no longer considered a part of the company assets. I just hope that it worked out in his favour also.

Heh...I was a member CUD (pen and paper RPG group which concentrated on World of Darkness games) at the same time as Artur..I remember all the work that was put into internal MUSH system that never really took off Good times

Anyway... it's a polish only thing, but Garnek (that's his nick name) after many many years of development finally released Wolsung last year. It's a very nice pen and paper RPG game with amazing steam punk setting. They even got a big of franchise thing going on, with acompanying board and card games. Wolsung seems to be gathering a lot of steam (a pun! who doesn't love a pun? :P) with new suplements in production and all, so maybe he wanted to concentrate on that more.

What he needs to do is make Wolsung cRPG. It would make a great PC game,

only if he made it, because then they could stick to the actual rules and not cRPG modify it like every dnd game ever made.

EDIT: Loving how popular this thread is... lot of people liked the witcher...

Personaly I don't think bringing opriginal rulesets is such a good idea, most are too primitive to be enjoyable in cRPG. With DnD it was worth it because of how familiar the rules were to most gamers, but that's not the case with Wolsung. During one of Green Ronin (a PnP RPG company) podcasts they discussed challenges of making PnP Dragon Age and they said the system from the game was just way to complex for tabletop adaptation, so they just took the basic idea and then wrote it from scratch.

So I agree with you only partialy. Yes, he would need to be the one to do it, because he could recreate not only the setting, but also create ruleset that would retain the style of the origninal, without copying it completely.
that said...I would kill for cRPG that would use Riddle of Steel combat mechanics

btw... there will be a huge CD PRojekt event 25th march, when they will be showing Witcher 2, Alpha Protocol, Arcania and others (I will be considered a weirdo because the one demo I'm most hyped about is Gray Matter ). I'm going there as a part of gaming press, so I will try to ask about Artur's involvment in Witcher2 (ie..is he still helping the team, even if just as a freelancer)
