I'm cpu bounded,I think this one would do 3G on air if I remove the IHS but trashing the core would be easy while mounting the xp-120,successfully done would get me to 13500 or there abouts runs games smooth as is

yeah i agree, risky business ... Most of the time not worth the couple extra mhz's, maybe unless your chip is getting exceptionally hot (bad IHS contact or something) I had a pretty hard time getting that 13k by the way, it is fairly 3dmark stable, but that's about it What clocks was your card at ? ATI-Tool is a bit quirky but upping the clocks on the card has more effect on 3dmark05 then upping cpu-speed |

689/801 an easy overclock via bios flash from a moded bios I got from a guy at extremsystems.org it runs the fan(mines the stock one) at 100% at temp over 60c it's a toxic bios with the tighter xtx ram timmings works nice card doesn't get much over 65c at full load so it has more head room but I need more cpu speed or vga clock increase don't net much. needs 1.45vcore for 2.8 load temp gets to about 46c in a kinda hot room, right on the boarder of 3G capable but uping the vcore don't do much for it and temps aren't that high,maybe just this venus cores' max speed.260 fsb makes it unstable after some run time at 3d 05 type load think I'll just spend some more on a e6400 on rd600(when released)

Also, Aquamark3 is a good bench for 'older' systems .. It's about 50/50 cpu/gpu dependant. Aquamark favors nvidia cards a bit though, and absolutely hates ati X-whatever cards  aquamark3 can be downloaded at guru3d.com |
