Default WU finished before shutting down?

Hi all, I'm new to this [email protected] thing. I just got the [email protected] client running on my PC @ work earlier today. Just wondering if I have to finish the WU before I shut the PC down or can I just shut it down and it'll pickup the work at where it was shut down? Thanks.

... and use a program like em3 (www.em-dc.com) if you like to monitor your progress (assuming you're going to be a stats junkie like me ).

Welcome!

I tried the dual CPU service installer but somehow my XP task manager showed that only 1 CPU was working... Anyway, I've got the console version of [email protected] working with HT now and it seems to be working fine. Not as much horsepower as a lot of you guys have, but I have a P4 2.4 HT @ 3GHz at home and a P4 1.6GHz at working folding away. Now only if I can persuade a few of my friends to start folding...

What exactly is EM3? Do I just install it after I've installed the [email protected] console?

Thanks.

the service installer doesnt always start both for some reason. just reboot.

and if you used the service installer, make sure that the cfg files were created with your username properly.

Electron Microscope is a great Folding monitoring program perfect for stats junkies like me! Just download it and the latest protein file and unzip it (main first then protein) into its own directory (I use d:\emstats) and run the .exe file. Point it to the Folding .exe file in your folding directory (I use d:\fah) and bingo bango bongo!

You can use it to monitor multiple boxes (fah directory must be shared, so do so but protect them so others can't screw with the folder). I use it at home to monitor both my boxes, and in a lab to monitor over 20 boxes. Makes it much much easier to manage a large deployment as you can instantly see any problems etc.

You can, and should, also copy two files to your folding directory: speed.exe & EMGetCPUinf.dll. Run speed.exe to create speed.emd. This allows EM3 to detect the speed of your processor to give you a relatively accurate gauge of how long a specific WU will take to complete.

Lots of other goodies in EM3 too, visit www.em-dc.com to get more info! And, if you really like it, don't be afraid to drop El Weatherman some coinage in appreciation for his fine work!
