Smile Data on ATI Cards

Given the potentially confusing array of ATI cards in the market, I've compiled some data to share with fellow ATI users(color coded to reflect more or less the same groupings). I've paid more attention to the data that will affect performance the most, such as the memory bandwidth and peak pixel fillrate:

Pipelines | Texture Units per Pipe | Core Clock(MHz) | Memory Bus (bit) | Memory Clock (MHz) | Memory Bandwidth (GB/s) | Peak Pixel Fillrate (Gpixel/s) | Remarks

ATI Radeon X800XT Plat Edit 256MB DDR3 R420 0.13-micron low-k DX9 * 6 vertex/12 pixel shaders 2.0b *

Core:166 | Bus: 128*2bit | Memory: 166MHz | Pipelines:2*2 | TMU/pipeline: 1 | Bandwidth: 5.31GB/s | Pixel Fillrate: 0.667 GB/s

Note: OK, I just had to add the 3dfx V5 card here since it's always been one of my ole' fav The calculations are a bit different for this guy since it's non DDR with dual chips.

Bandwidth = 2 (two chips) * 128 * 166 / 8
Peak pixel = (166 * 2 * 1) * 2 (two chips)

Formulae:

Memory bandwidth = 2 (DDR) * Memory Clock (MHz) * Bus Width (bit) / 8 (byte)

Peak Pixel Fillrate = Core clock (MHz) * No of Rendering Pipelines * No of TMUs per pipeline

TMU: Texture mapping unit

Perhaps can make this a sticky for reference

Edit: Update for X800 series.

Thanks guys!

The 9100 should have 250 MHz memory, I believe sapphire is the only one with 200 MHz memory. Even though the card hasn't been released, I believe the 9800 non-pro was to have the same core/memory speed as the 9700 Pro.

I could've sworn the 9200 Pro had a higher GPU clockspeed.

What happend the the 7xxx series cards?

I got the 9200Pro data from here:

http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles...?cid=3&aid=736

7xxxx? Man, I'm too tired...though I still have the Radeon 64Mb DDR SE with 184MHz default (instead of 166MHz) in my 2nd PC.

Now I remember where I saw it. Check it out:

http://www.darkcrow.co.kr/Review/Rev...&contentpage=4

If you scroll down, they say it's clocked @ 325/275. Hmm..

Anyways, I think I can help you out on the 7xxx's:

uhm, as far as I know:
64 MB DDR Retail: 183/183 MHz
64 MB DDR OEM: 166/166 MHz
64 MB DDR SE: 198/198 MHz

and... isn't the memory bandwith of the 9500 non-pro a bit lowish?
if I calculate your bandwith backwards, it would mean it has 200 MHz DDR memory....

and wow... the 7500 with 3 pipelines?
not as far as I know.. the 7500 is still 2 pipelines, 3 TMU's per pipeline...
the only thing that really changed was the memory controller, and the clock speeds....

Yeah, I posted the retail speeds.

Er, thanks for correcting that. I read it wrong from this chart:

OK, this data has been made a sticky at one of my fav' forum. I'll be maintaining the ATI card data list from there since it'll be easier.

Please refer to this thread for future updates. Cheers!

I'm also maintaining a sticky thread on the true MHz of AMD CPUs as well. It's here for reference:

what about make this a stick? once a while you see ppl asking what clock speeds their cards should have... or how many pipes X card has and so on.

This is great work but I don't think that there is a 9800 Pro with 128mb DDRII.

You're probably right. Details still hazy on the 9800 NonPro. Will update accordingly.

It's difficult to maintain this when it's a non-sticky. This data has been made a sticky at one of my fav' forum. I'll be maintaining the ATI card data list from there since it'll be easier.

Default Info on Dell 9800's

Just thought I'd add my tidbit of info about my Dell 9800 non-pro I have. It's clocked at 325/290. I've read in other posts that 9800 non-pros are supposed to be blocked identically to 9700 Pros. This could be like the 9700 Tx variants that Dell had. Interestingly enough, this card is not called 9800 Tx to my knowledge and nothing special about the name is mentioned on Dell's websites.

The 128 mb 9800 pro and non pro don't use DDRII memory.

BTW this might help, a summary that Icecold made.

Question 256mb 9500pro

I just got a 9500 Pro. It has 4 memory modules "HYB25D128323C-3.3" on the front side and on the back side there are 4 more of the same. This is 256mb. Am I wrong or is this an unusual board.

No its 128MB for sure. 8 x 16MB chips = 128MB.

Corrections for Radeon 9800 (non pro):
memory type - DDR SDRAM
GPU - 325MHz
Memory - 290MHz
Memory Bandwidth - 18.56 GB/s
Pixel Fillrate - 2.60 GB/s

The Infineon site says these are 32mb modules X 4 for 128mb. 8 of them is 256mb.

Oh....just install the card and check DXDiag...but to my memory the only cards that has 256MB on them from ATi were the 9600 Pro and the 9800 Pro.

Great job!

I'm almost positive Liuke is right about the 9800 np speeds. I know the default memory clock is 290. I'll have to check mine tonight to make sure on the core.

mreman and wazman are right it's 325/290 for the 9800 NP. My original post was before retail 9800 NP's were available. At that time, I believed the rumor passed around these forums that the 9800 NP was clocked the same as a 9700 Pro which turned out to be false. I thought Dell was pulling a 9800 TX thing like they did w/ the 9700 TX.

127Mb in DXDiag. The memory is on the board. What a waste.

Pixel fillrate is just core*pixel pipes.
Should be 1.0 for 8500LE,9100, 9000pro and 9200pro
1.1 for 8500
333-366 for 7200-7500
