Default Radeon 8500 & DX9?

I have the Radeon 8500. Has anybody installed DX9? DX9a? Any problems?

I'm concerned cuz the 8500 does not officially sppt DX9. Is this a problem?

Thanks for any insight.

I have DX9.0 (not a) and works fine for me so far...

I've heard of some people saying that the newer Epic games (Unreal 2003/ Unreal II etc.) don't run as smoothly on this, but I never had them installed before I had DX9 and they run fine on my system.. (well for an old 8500)

Has anyone else experienced the above?

Regards,

Thx for the input. I want to run 3DMark2003, and it asks for DX9.

No problems with 98 or 2000 with 9.0 and my 8500!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there some ip to ip, network play or online play that was one of the improvements in DX9.0?

Only Counter Strike keeps crashing now. But I'm not sure if due to DX 9 or if it's because of the version 1.5 of Counter Strike. And I don't really have time to find out what is causing the problem.

Everything else works just fine.
