Excellent information! I have a PowerColor 9700non-pro and it looks just like the Rev. 3.0 card. My 9700non-pro even has the same part number: 109-94200-30. My card is COMPLETELY identical except for the slower memory.

I contacted ATi and they confirmed that the extra two chips improve the visual clarity of all internet porn. I have verified this claim with extensive testing.

MAKO,

Could you send me a copy of the BIOS from your card (the Rev. 3.0)? I'm curious as to whether it's a newer version than 8.004.

Thank you.

Juicy Slicer,

Could you send me a copy of your BIOS? I'd love to take a look at it. ATI seems to number a lot of their BIOS's 8.004, but they are NOT all the same.

It's amazing how different they are if you do a hex comparison!

Thank you.

That extra little thingie helps modulate the electrical frequency better and helps solve the occasional cold boot problem. The earlier boards would once in a while not boot when turning on the machine with the on/off button, you would actually have to hit the reset button to start up the graphic acceleration.

I think its ATi's way to overcome the bad mobo manu's and there bad AGP designs.

imagine that ATi has to fix thier card to work in AGP 8x boards that do not meet the intel specs for the implimentation.

those appear to be programmable array logic chips. funny how Ati managed to fix what VIA and SiS refused to do.

Thanks Juicy Slicer,

I will send you a file called atiflash.zip. Unzip it and put the files onto a bootable floppy disk.

Boot your computer using the floppy.

At the A:\ type the command:

atiflash -s 0 9700.BIN <--- That's a zero not an 'o'. This will save a copy of your BIOS onto the floppy. It will be named 9700.BIN.

If you could e-mail me that file (9700.BIN), I will be forever indebted to you.

Atleast ATi's on it!!! Funny how VIA and SiS don't want to fix there problem pronto, and ATi gets blamed for it. I guess it's the price you pay when your the first one out with new tech.

So people with the older boards could RMA there cards to get the ones that will work properly in VIA & SiS boards, I have the older one and I have no problems with it. Stutter free, AGP8X problems free & free of cold boot problem. I'm just one of the lucky ones. It's installed in my trusty Epox 8K9A2 mobo.

You must have me mistaken for someone else! I only joined Rage3D forums 7 days ago (12/18/2002)!

What are you talking about???

Look to the left, it says registered: December 2002.

My first post EVER on Rage3D forums was "The overclockable 9500Pro BIOS".

Sorry Juicy, but you are mistaken.

That guy sent it to me too, I don't know what's going on Juicy Slicer, but you have me mistaken. Check the source code on your message, I DID NOT SEND IT!

This "Caligari" also sent me an e-mail with some information, the source code is attached:

The message is from "Caligari" <mersey@sympatico.ca> and to <warp11@mindspring.com> (that's me)!!!

Please check the source code on the message you received!!

I WOULD NOT OPEN THAT MYSTERIOUS E-MAIL FROM "CALIGARI" !!!

This is a very important question!! Moderators please look!!

This guy "Caligari" <mersey@sympatico.ca>, is all over the net if you check.

The e-mail that went out to me (see above) and presumably to Juicy Slicer occurred at the same time that I sent JS an e-mail via his Rage3D profile.

COULD THIS GUY BE CAPTURING E-MAIL ADDRESSES VIA THE RAGE3D PROFILE??? I am dead serious here.

Juicy Slicer, this situation has me truly disturbed. Did you ever receive an e-mail from "warp11" with the atiflash program attached?
