Is there really a 1.4 version, I thought it is only 1.3 now.

Does R300 support OpenGL2.0?
no

Does NV30 support OpenGL2.0?
no

How do you know that?
OpenGL2.0 only except technology if
it is available to all manufacturer.
which takes a long time to finalize!

Are you sure?
yes, 3DLab and ATi are leaders in this development.

When will OpenGL2.0 be support
next year

What will be supported now
OpenGL1.4 (it will be the basic support in OpenGL2.0)

I didn't think there was going to be OGL1.4?

The way I thought it was supposed to happen is that OpenGL 2.0 will be released and will contain full backwards compatibility with OpenGL 1.3. As developers upgrade their code to be OpenGL 2.0 the features of OpenGL 1.3 will eventually become unsupported (in quite a long time). This doesn't mean that a particular implementation couldn't support OpenGL 1.3, it's just that for the implementation to meet the specifications required for OpenGL compliance legacy OpenGL support wouldn't be required.

That's the way I thought it would work based on something I read ages ago, but it's probably wrong.

erm...

I believed OpenGL2.0 run in a "PURE HARDWARE" mode...
meaning the hardware must meet the spec of OpenGL2.0
(which very few will at the launch of the API)

OpenGL1.4 is supposed to be the backward compatibility mode.
OpenGL1.4 is build into OpenGL2.0 as only the core functions.
(basic ability which most card could meet)

OpenGL1.4 is like the phase 1 of the OpenGL2.0 API.
about the support, well I can't be certain...
maybe you are right.

OpenGL 2.0 will take the capabilities of the API beyond the specifications of hardware for the next year or so, so I doubt anyhardware will support all that the API can do in the short term.
