Default New Liveware CD Posted at Compaq - AIW/SBLive Issues Fixed

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp2...00/SP20920.exe

Now you can capture video with no frameloss when the capture starts :-)

This is apparently for XP and Win2k only :-( It is also around 340mb so dial-up folks are gonna have a long wait on this one. The archive is combines Audigy/SBLive drivers and apps. If someone can check to see whether the Audigy mixer issue is fixed with these, I would appreciate it!

I have an SBLive! 5.1, but not a Compaq.. I wonder if there's anything Compaq-specific about this download. Hmm... I think I'll wait until Creative releases updated drivers on their website (yes, I know, I may be waiting a while).

Nothing Compaq-branded about it at all. I have an OEM SBLive Value (using it now instead of my Fortissimo II) and this archive has built-in parametric EQ so the sound is much crisper and configurable. It is well-worth the download!

I recently purchased and installed a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card at work and was considering one for my home computer. I still have a SB Live on my home computer and of course was getting the dropped frames on MPEG captures. Well, I just downloaded and installed the new SB drivers/software and NO MORE DROPPED FRAMES!!!!

WHOA! I didn't think it was possible, but these actually improve the quality substantially on my Live 5.1. I had given up all hope for this piece of crap, but this makes my day. The high end is a lot better. It sounds a lot closer to when I plug my speakers into my iPod now.

Exclamation

These work fine on my SBLive x-gamer (not 5.1). No more dropped frames! But where is Live Surround???? No more Live Surround! That sucks.
I also get 5 more fps in Quake3.

When is Creative going to post a driver update on their site so I won't have to download this huge file?

There is supposedly a driver that they are working on that is in release candidate form now so could be released soon. You may want to check the soundblaster newsgroup for more info.

Delete the CTOem.cfg file from C:\Compaq\SP20920\Audio\Setup or wherever you extracted it.

Sa-Weet! I will start downloading it now. I wonder if we could rip out the sound drivers and convince Cyborg to host it?

Default bump

I still can't get over this. This is like getting a whole new sound card! I almost feel like Creative might not be so bad after all. It's a shame that it took so long, but at least they got there eventually.

Can anyone confirm if these drivers fixed the Line-in/ATI TV problem?

Are you referring to the problem with the line-in on the Audigy? If so, I agree that it would be great to know if it is fixed :-)

Cool

uuuhhhhh how the heck did they come up with 340MB??? isn't that a bit much for just a soundcard driver that'll only work on xp? doh did they #include "source.code" in all languages as well or what? slow site too downloading @18K/sec usually doing 50K/sec @ work

Why?

a. multilanguage
b. new driver format = bigger archive (these aren't wdm)
c. all the Creative Apps that come are on the cd
d. beggars can't be choosers - take ritalin if you have difficulty waiting for things

What a difference! I am seriously impressed. Talk about breathing new life into an old card. They also didnt screw over my mp3 subsystem, as most previous creative drivers have. And yes, frame droppage at beginning of capture is fixed! Whee!

Today I bought a Live! Value to replace the onboard C-Media chip. I have problems with that 'soundcard' during timeshifting, exactly as the experiences from http://www.monmouth.com/~rothe/ati_aiw8500dv.html. I directly downloaded the most recent XP drivers from Creative and installed them. Unfortunatelly, during timeshifting the sound was even worse than the C-Media chip! Anybody same experience with this Live! card (running driver version 3509.2.0.0 on XP) and will this huge download solve my problems?

Try disabling the firewire port and see if that helps in addition to using the drivers posted in this link, not the drivers from Creative.

Do these drivers make the SBLive pass the compatibility test in control panel?

***Edit***Under contol panel there is an ATI icon, in the panel that comes up there is a button for a compatibility test that says my live may not be compatible because of ?latency? or something. Just wondering if it passes with the new drivers.

One thing that kind of bugs me about these drivers is that TV is now much quieter than it used to be. Although my MP3s seem better balanced with other sounds in my system, TV is just much quieter than it used to be. I have to turn up the system volume when I watch TV, and that causes my Instant Messenger sounds to be extremely loud. I guess I can't have everything.

For MP3s? I use Winamp. For TV, I use MMC 7.6.

As a temporary fix, I've set my main volume really high, WAV volume really low, and Line In volume really high. Right now that seems to be the best mix of decent sounding volume I can get.

Bad luck.

Even with this new driver, still the distorted sound during timeshifting, whether I listen to the live sound or the captured sound, awfull quality.

Wanted to disable 'Fast AGP write', was already disabled. No solution.

Disabled the 1394 in XP, no luck. Will disable it by jumper in the coming days.
