I went from XP to Windows 7. Never installed Vista. Anyone else part of the "Never installed Vista" club??

Hello no. Vista was a welcome change from XP i'm glad i adopted quickly. I'm presently in the skipping 7 club ![]() (I do have it on my secondary & notebook systems.) On the main gaming system & Lian LAN, until i hear "Centered Timings" is working again, 7 is unwelcome.

Originally I was going to wait for the first service pack for Vista but then when I started hearing more stuff about 7 I decided to wait. Glad I did, saved about $200 ![]()

![]() Oh, I kinda skipped Vista. I installed it a few times on a few different machines. Never liked it that much, so it never stayed. Windows 7 fixed all the stuff I disliked about Vista. Now, I gotta build a new machine for the bedroom.

Skipped it. I saw no compelling reason to change over *shrug*. Only reason I'm going to jump to Win7, any week now, is because I get an insane student discount. Otherwise I would have waited to see how DX11 panned out.

I bought a license off a member here for $55.00 so that's why I just jumped. Otherwise I would probably still be using XP. ![]()

Skiparoonied... didn't even bother to mess with it in a VM even after aquiring a "tiny" image. ![]() We shall see about 7 after the first SP... if I can be arsed to build a new system and particularly all the software hassle that entails.

xp to win7 here. Glad I did. I disliked vista-used it on my bro's machine, and nothing intrigued me-actually repulsed me. Ya know, i'll stick with xp as well; I dual boot when necessary.

Skipped straight from XP to 7. I've done plenty of Vista support for relatives though. |

I skipped Vista on my desktop (went from XP to 7). Reason is because I tried Vista (RC1) on my older P4 3.2GHz machine w/ 1GB RAM, and it was slower than XP, and at the time did not really feel it had a whole lot to offer. Then I rebuilt with a Core 2 Quad CPU late last year and was thinking of switching to Vista, till I heard Windows 7 was being released later this year. So I felt it made more sense to wait for 7 since they promised a faster, sleeker, more stable OS that did not consume as many resources as Vista (already knew Windows 7 x64 would be my next OS since the beta seemed quite good for a beta, and my scanner, printers, and all other devices were working with 7). So far, Windows 7 has been great for me, and was actually the first time I went for a new OS right at launch. I can't say Vista had issues since it works great on my laptop (Core 2 Duo, 3GB memory), just never installed Vista on my desktop. |

XP to w7 here. Was never sold on DX10, and sidebar was the only feature i wish i had. Everything else I felt Vista did poorly over XP.

Went from XP-64 to Win7-64 on my desktop. My laptop has vista on it. Not by choice. It works though so no complaints.

I don't know about the registry, but I have found that a surprising number of programs will still work as long as the drive letters stay the same. Steam seams to be the best; I've never had to reinstall Steam even though I've gone through two installations of XP and one installation of 7 with it.

I'm skipped Vista. I have a plan to get Windows 7 Professional 64-bit as when I have money to re-build my currently rig. My old rig still holds for almost 4 or 5 years already.

I'll be sticking with Vista64 and actually skipping Win7 unless there is some absolute gaming need.

Nah, Vista is almost like 7 , so if you used vista, it's pretty much a interface upgrade.

I skipped Vista. I was a little nervous, because I remember back when Win95 came out, I avoided it like the plague. Hated it. And when I finally had to upgrade, I realized that despite my "computer geek" cred, most n00bs were more familiar with Win95 than me, and I had to bust my ass to catch up and surpass. I stayed on the cutting edge with WinXP, but when Vista came out, I took a calculated gamble that it would fail, and I could afford to ignore it until Windows 7 was released. Turned out that I played that hand correctly. I've already ordered my first Win7 system, and should be up to speed well before market saturation hits 25%.

XP to Win 7 here. I had a hunch about Vista that Microsoft's next OS wouldnt be as far away as with XP, so I decided to just wait it out. The fact XP was such a great OS helped that decision too. I feel I made the right choice. ![]() |

Nope. The hunch was based on MS' long track record of releasing refresh operating systems shortly after new kernels. XP was an exception, as you mentioned. But anyone should know, whenever a Windows version comes out chances are another isnt far behind. Since I didnt care too much for Vista and XP was still suiting me just fine I decided to wait. Not to bash anyone who went to Vista but I feel I made the correct choice for my situation and needs. |

Unfortunately, MS's own worst enemy is themselves, in the guise of XP. |
