Default Windows 7 Partition disappeared, seen as Free Space!

Hi all,

Here is what happened:

I have a dual boot config on my main hard disk, Vista and 7. I installed some updates in 7, booted into Vista to install some CFD software and also some updates. On restarting, my PC defaulted to 7, but cannot boot, saying the device is inaccessible.

I can still boot into Vista, but the 7 partition is not shown in explorer, and shown as free space in disk manager. I have tried the startup repair options in 7 to no avail.

I am currently trying Active Partition Recovery, any other ideas??

Default

try booting with the Windows 7 disk and (re-)installing, it should find the Windows 7 partition and ask to fix the computer. If you have Win7 Ultimate you could make a temporary VHD on your Vista partition and install Win7 to that then boot from that and try to troubleshoot.
