Hey all, i loved the first Stalker, is the 2nd one any good? Its on sale for %50off at: www.gamersgate.com/ $14.95, is that worth it? Has anyone finished it or just gave up half way through out of boredom or frustration? i'd like to hear 1st hand accounts cause the reviews call it a B game at most. Cheers.

gogamer doesnt ship to canada people say it's what the original should have been, so maybe if you liked the first so much, you'd like clear sky? plus it's moddable

Doesn't it still run at like 20fps if you try to max it out? ![]() I stay clear of Stalker after the first, but that's me. I'd say wait for Metro 2033 to come out.

It IS worth 14.95, but i wouldn't buy it for more than that. If you don't buy it before the sale ends, get Pripyat when it finally releases in english countries. One caveat though, you won't be able to run the high textures option unless you have a vid card with more than 800 video ram. You can actually run it, but it causes huge problems. So switch to medium right from the start.

I'd get it for cheaper. There are a lot of dick moves in the game and when you think it's starting to get good and awesome, you go to the end game where everything becomes terrible again.

I could run it maxed, 1920x1200, AF but no AA on my 512MB HD4870. Couldn't do DX10 because I was on XP, but it ran just fine all the same. If you loved the original it's definitely worth $15. A lot of close similarities, a little more variety, and a few missions that are really interesting.

Yeah, i forgot the ending... game is still worth it, but only if your happy to stop playing the story at the red forest, and just go around likes it an open world game.

I think you´ll enjoy it alot. Just make sure to patch it to the latest version right away. BEFORE you start any game (sometimes saves screw up). Also try to run it in DX9 mode, and even then be careful when setting options such as sunshafts and SSAO. Very important: Do NOT judge the performance you go in the first area of the game. During morgning (in the game) there are severe performance drops (e.g. sunshafts are only rendered then). So if you find that youre getting some low fps when you start playing, just keep playing until you are for example out in the swamps (youll know) and then start fiddeling with settings if you feel the need for it.

I would probally say so, SoC is keeping me occupied at the minute, with some bugs now and then. This will most probally be next up for me.. the bugs are a cause for concern though, Seems most of the shabby reviews were due to the amount of bugs present. other than that they said it has the potential to be great with patches and updates. just like its predeceser, this is from reading reviews. ![]() |

What bugs? There is rare clipping but that's it. Use DX10.1 if your card supports it, reduce sun shafts to minimum - they are beautiful enough. |
