As some of saw my post of me ripping the ram chip off my 9600gt Well.. My 7300gs can only run 1 screen with the ( correct ) colours because the vga connector is broken or something, it outputs the screen without the blue/yellow making it look weird.....I have a 8600gt laying around and was wondering should i pop it in the oven. When i put in the card in the computer it doesnt give me a screen, just a black screen.... although the computer boots fine i just don't get a screen, i've saw the article where they put an 8800gtx in the oven and fixed it....I was wondering if that would work on mine. Here are some possible ( whys ) it died. 1. short circuit ( dropped screws on it numerous times shorting it causeing comp to turn off ) 2. excessive overheating ( i used to play with the fan and one day it stopped and continued to play my game unknowning it had died ) 3. extreme overclocks? ( i used to overclock the hell out of this card, i pushed it to it's MAX limits i was JUST a mhz or so from bsod and played a game with that overclocks and got tons of artifacts although i wanted to kill the card back then i decided overclocking to its limits and playing games was how i was gonna do it ) You think it's still retrievable?

You're certainly free to cook your video card in the oven. However, if you believe that cooking your video card will somehow fix it, you'll probably be disappointed. |

I don't think it will fix it in this case as the problem is not a reflow issue, but that the components themselves were ran out of spec to the point of failure. I don't anticipate this working, and if it does it'll break again before long (< 3 mo.) - but that might be enough till you can get a real card like a HD5770 for Christmas. |
