Default Toronto police...these guys are pathetic...

http://thestar.com/news/gta/article/701450

a police office molests kids over a number of years but because he's a police officer the Crown is only asking for 2 years for 25 counts of child molestation and he was allowed to retire so he could keep his pension.

Wait, what?

Apparently, you can murder people and molest children in Canada and get only a slap on the wrist.

My point about what?

EDIT: The "Pope" got a Presidential pardon? As in...the Pope in Italy? Which President was this? When was this? Also, who did they murder?

While I understand the disgust and frustration for a police officer to do such a thing (and only get a "slap on the wrist") I don't agree with using a blanket statement about the entire police department...that is wrong and pathetic as well. There are plenty of law-abiding, decent people in various police departments.

Using statements like that is no different than doing the same thing about different races or cultures.

That said I have always felt that people in positions of authority, when found guilty, should be hit with fine or jail terms as much as or moreso then a regular citizen

The guy is a serial pedophile. Slam him with 15 years or so. Walk him down the row in prison while the loud speaker announces that this is officer so and so and he is in here for molesting children.

No quarter...no mercy.

Canadian justice ... isn't it great? i wouldn't be surprised if some people say two years less a day is too long (he'll serve in a provincial jail, likely get a day pass in a few months, and get full parole soon afterward).

Quote:
They were afraid of what might happen to them because he was a policeman with friends on the force "with guns," according to a parent whose daughter was just 5 when she was molested in 1998. "We thought this would be swept under the covers because of who he was. This was a man we trusted. You're supposed to trust police officers. Who do we tell our kids to go to?"
mission accomplished. by lightly tapping this monster on the wrist, the court has said it's OK for law enforcement officers to molest children. this breach of trust should be punished severely, but apparently molesting children and threatening parents is not too severe a crime. who can we trust?

So, in Canada, if you sell marijuana seeds over the internet you will get extradited to the U.S. to serve jail time (Emory), yet at the same time, if you are a serial child rapist you are told "Don't do it again, eh? Now go retire. Here's money."

Apparently they were right.
Admit to and be convicted of being a child molester and get... paid to do nothing for 13 years. And I suspect he gets his retirement too.

yup, that's about right. i respect American justice--in the US, if you do the crime, you pay the time. not so much in Canada, as you can see by this case. it pisses me off so much that we don't punish convicted criminals like they deserve to be punished.

Default I wrote to the Minister/Ministry of Attorney General

How can the Crown ask for "2 years less a day", are they on crack? What happened to punishment fitting the crime? This guy needs to go away for a long time. Instead, the bastard is being rewarded. I've seen pictures of the inside of a Canadian prison, and I've seen college dorms, and they look
kinda the same. This bastard is a child molester, and in two years he will not only resume molesting innocent children, he will be funded by the Canadian taxpayer. You could even say we'll be buying the candy he uses to lure his victims. His crimes might even escalate.
Is this supposed to be justice? What the f***!

Canadian justice system is a joke. Our life sentence is 25 years and most people never face the full sentence. 10-15 max for hardened criminals.

If you are a career criminal Canada is the best place to do your chaos. This is a known fact. Drug dealers getting out easily like nothing. Seriously this place is a great haven for organized crime.
