Default Long time playstation fan gets a 360 for his birthday.

Well... My awesomely awesome girlfriend got me a 360 with fable 2 and gears of war 2. It's a jasper, manufacturing date august 2, 2009. She said she was buying it for herself and them told me it was for me when it got here. Needless to say the ring in my desk will find a good home on her hand soon

I never even hinted about this or even the games I want, I was leaning toward a copy of borderlands for pc for my birthday. Nevertheless, I have one and I played for a few hours on it and I like it. The controls are wonky, but I never liked console controls. Gears of War 2 is a lot of fun, I really enjoyed the first on PC and the second seems pretty good so far.

The interface is kind of weird, I really liked the xmb interface of the psp and ps3, but i will get used to this. I played some fable 2 and i like it, i only played the tutorial part where you get the music box and i saved after that to let my gf play, and she accidentally overwrote my save, that's okay though

I am really liking the console so far, the controller isn't as different as I feared and the games are fun so far. What else should I get for the 360?

I find XMB to be too simplistic for my tastes and I hate the PSN interface. Its all so disconnected...

I like the 360 Dashboard because XBL is a huge part of it; its built around XBL, so its just fun to navigate and there's LOTS more content on XBL.

If it has a August 2009 manufacturing date, then it's a Jasper in all probability. My Arcade with a July 2009 manufacturing date is a Jasper. Congrats on the console.

Grats man..

Its hard to recommend games to some people, so many different genres..

Anyways if you like RTS games I really enjoyed halo wars, and also Civ Revolution, although I found I got bored of them kinda quick but its hard when you are surround with tons of PC and xbox360 games..

For a platformer I played Kameo back in the day, I really enjoyed the game and you can get it for really cheap now..

Halo series is always good, I mean its hard when your a PC gamer because they really aren't ground breaking but they are fun.

Mass Effect was amazing, highely recommend it (only complaint was the vehicle driving and the annoying "pop in" graphics.. But other then that A+ game..

Batman most definitely, I love it so far. Oh also not sure if you played Bioshock but that was really fun as well..

In all honestly your prolly best off getting a gamefly account lol.. I rent so many games that I never would have bought and ended up liking them a lot

**Edit**

how could I forget fallout 3?! Amazing game as well.. and also oblivion was cool too (I played it on the PC but the xbox 360 version I heard good things about)

Sorry that's what I meant (12.1amps on the 12v rail right?). I was quite excited when I wrote that post.

Anyway, haven't played any more of gears 2, but I have been playing the heck out of fable 2, it's pretty awesome. I have mass effect and fallout 3 on pc, they are fantastic.

I'm gonna buy myself some live points and a gold membership today (payday ) and download some demos. I can use my brother's netflix account with the 360 right? (how?)

Anyway, this is pretty fun, and I am enjoying it.

edit: about my girlfriend: she is really awesome. I think the quote that sums her up best is from my brother just after she dominated him in TF2:

"WHY THE **** CAN'T I FIND A HOT GIRL THAT LIKES GAMES TOO, **** YOU *punches my shoulder*

Netflix integration is easy. Just select that you already have an account and it will give you a code to put into the netflix website for that user account. I don't remember the steps exactly but it took all of 5 minutes to do.

QFT, they are not as rare as people think. They are hard to find because a lot of them are closet geeks. Glad I found one. We even hooked up the Nintendo lastnight and played Mike Tysons punch out.

That sucks ass man.

You should pick up a much worse vice such as heroin or something, then she will be begging you to go back to just gaming.

Omfg. She played until 6pm, then she went home to work on homework and babysit her nephews. I just got up to pee and its 1:30am

HOLY HELL!

I remember KotOR on pc being like this. I can't stop playing fable. It is badass. I just sacrificed my wife in some dark temple and the guy spinning a wheel of torture called me evil. Oh well, at least I have my other wife (and second son) to keep me busy. Also the killing of innocent people and whatnot.

That was probably my favorite of the MGS series before 4 was released. It is an excellent game for sure.

haha, I hate when that happens. it's like the game just went easy on you. (i think the same thing happened to me too)
still playing fable 2, going for evil. i got the two DLCs for fable 2, they add a bit of content to it and it is nice. I guess i am near the end of the main quest, I have to get on a boat to go somewhere.

lots of fun being a bastard

Also, I have a gold account now and got my brother's netflix to work with it easily (didn't even have to log in ) and I'm about to stream a movie a rager linked me (after I get a new fishing pole, mine is crap).

Anyway, guess I need to look for more RPGs, because fable 2 is just plain awesome.

360 has quite a few good RPG's.

If you like downloadable games, check out Braid, Geometry Wars 2, Trials HD, and Shadow Complex. There's more that I can't remember now, but those are especially great games that I played recently that are only on 360.

Congrats, a whole new life starts now! :P
You will probably like Dead Space, Batman, GTA IV, Halo 3, Tales of Vesperia (if you are into RPGs), Mass Effect.
Then WHEN you are finished with those, we'll have Mass Effect II! Hehe
(Sure 360 has lots of games (personally I have tons) but games of uber significance are very few...something I miss when I had my PS 1, several AWESOME games)

Okay, I think I'll bump this thread for a question:
What's with the performance of the 360? Fable 2 seems to have crazy FPS drops to the point of being annoying and Madden 10 even has a few when I return to the line from a huddle. Gears 2 doesn't have any though. I only experienced FPS drops like this on GTA IV on the PS3 while running over pedestrians and dropping grenades out of the car.

Just wondering wtf is going on.

edit: I just learned about installing games to the hard drive, I think I'll do that.
