Default Get a gift for a wedding shower and wedding?...

My friend is getting married. He is throwing a couples wedding shower, informal event for both the bride and grooms friends and relatives. The invitation made mention to "shower" them with gifts.

So Do I have to take a gift from the registry to the shower and then to the wedding also? Or just the shower? Or a gift to the shower and then a card and cash to the wedding?

I'm so damn confused, as are other friends.

Can anyone else shed some light on this?

If it is for a couples shower you should pick something from the registry and bring it to the shower. As for the wedding you are not expected to bring a present or hand over cash unless you want to. Now if it was for a "bridal shower only" then a gift for the shower AND a present for the wedding. Hope that makes sense.

Yes that makes sense. Its a couples shower, and it seemed pretty clear that we should bring a gift to it. All my friends agreed.
I thought that there was no reason to bring anything to the wedding, because they probably don't want to deal with the gifts at the wedding. I mean, 400-500 people are supposedly attending, thats a lot of gifts to haul back home.

Maybe take an card with some cash just in case? If I notice other people giving something, that I know gave a gift during the shower, I can pull out my cash so I don't look pathetic.

Good idea?

Slide them a few C notes with a card. Setting up house costs. Money is of more use than a waffle iron.

I know I would rather have money than a waffle iron or what not, but then I see a registry, and I think "They must want this stuff otherwise why did they bother to 'shop' for it and add it to the registry?".

I think I will give money also, it looks like he is going to spend a lot on this wedding and I am going for "free" as it is.

Thanks for the help!

lol, nice setup. "Give us gifts!!" . Then again most traditions seem silly to me.

Sorry, back on topic.
