Desktop Trinity pushed back by 1Q, now expected Sept

Supply of the Trinity desktop parts is low so the launch is pushed back. Normally that would mean production problems but this appears to be demand related - someone has bought all the chips.

So, who would buy all the brand new APU's - enough that AMD can't publicly launch - for desktop? Obviously an OEM... which one and why did AMD agree to ALL of the production?

Interesting development. Obviously if they had good and plenty they would have release the desktop earlier. Still chipsets and board makers also have to be up to speed and the chipmaker is AMD. Maybe enough for mobile but for desktops too? Then again maybe Llano is still bulging at the retailers and OEMs for desktops.

That's a good thought, could be Sony or Microsoft. But both of those products aren't shipping till 2013 or later, so what would be the use for what is presumably a lot of chips? prototypes and dev boxes?

Not sure but I think they start making them several months in advance to have enough in the Market for launch. At least as far as the XBox 360 and PS3 goes. They could also be getting the parts ready to assemble them in a few months...who knows, just a guess! I have a feeling the next xBox will be out for Xmas 2013.
