vista 64 bit, how do i make my desktop icons smaller?

for the best in me can't find it. also i set my files to list view, but once in a while, certain newly created folders lists the files as an icon. i went to folder options to "apply to folders" in teh past, but it still does this once in a while

Are you just looking to resize the icons?

If so, click on icon, hold ctrl and scroll your mouse wheel up or down and size to whatever you want.
