The Babe thread is on hiatus for now. I can provide no certainty right now when it will return. Google is currently peeved with us about it and it is affecting advertising. It will likely return in a future incarnation in a more restricted location. However in the mean time it's gone but I'm sure not forgotten.

I can see this going two ways,

A separate sub-forum you have to opt into like P&R.

Or

A separate sub-forum you have to opt into like P&R and be a paying R3D member, so you do not see ads anyway.

I think actually it had more to do with the advertisements being displayed in association with the images. Basically you've got a giant thread objectifying the female form (a practice which I wholeheartedly approve of) and then next to it you have an advertiser showing an ad for something like a retirement home which might object to seeing their ad so close to nubile young bodies. So now they complain to Google, who doesn't actually have the ability to better target their ads implemented on this page/site, so they push the "trouble" down to R3D admins.

It's not about the pics being rehosted, I don't think that was it. It appears the ad partners that Google works with just didn't care for their ads being front & center over cleavage.

Yes we use the ad revenue from the banner ads to pay for server hosting.

This is basically the gist of it. it's an advertiser thing. And yes, utimately it probably ends in a private forum with either no adverts or some other accommodation, but i haven't worked out the how we want to do it, and i really don't want too many changes involved while we're working on future r3d iterations. So while i apologies for making the abrupt change, I needed to make a temporary change in the short term while we come up with a good solution.

Maybe we should have monthly babe threads instead of one neverending one. That way all the traffic for the forum isn't going into just one thread, for analytics.

Also, stop posting the name of the person in searchable text, so that keyword hits on people don't show up?

IDK maybe someone with better SEO skills can advise.

Or we could just post a sticky that says 'if you want funny pics, boobage or animgifs go to reddit'
