dude, autism varies greatly, one of my best friend's son is autistic, you can't even tell really, He's just very shy, but I guess he throws massive tantrums everyone once in a while (i've never witnessed one in the past 3 years)

Nah, kids with tourette's will blurt out things without malicious intent. This kid was definitely intentionally trying to antagonize and escalate. Kids with autism or even ASDs also don't respond so intentionally, brazenly or without hesitation.

IDK maybe the women passing by just assume he's "autistic" when he could have some ASD like Asperger's. My brother who has AS used to have violent episodes when he would try to hurt himself around the same age. It's a little bit different when the kid externalizes that violence to strangers. I don't think this particular kid had autism or an ASD just because he responded way too normally and directly. Could be a little sociopath or had a similar upbringing as turdeye (did I mention there's lots of eastern european immigrants living there?)...

I would tell him that as much fun it is to throw rocks at the geese, it's down right hilarious to throw them at a pit bull or rottweiler, and the next time he sees one in the park or otherwise not behind a fence, he should try it as soon as possible.

You did the right thing though, Zero. If you put your hands on him, it could of been much worse.
Also, don't assume that his kid has some horrible childlife. I know plenty of kids that I grew up with that had everything in the world and they STILL turned out to be dickheads.

My Dad had hard hands and I learned quickly what was acceptable and what was not. Mom could draw a sandal like a gun and would use it.

So I was riding through this new trail with the gf today. We stop by this pond and watch some geese and ducks hanging out by the water. We notice this kid walk towards them, he's maybe 10-12. He's walking towards some baby geese so I call out to him to keep his distance because Canadian geese are protective of their young, not afraid of humans, and will attack if threatened enough.

He continues ignoring us for a while then while I'm talking to the gf about how we should find his parents, he says to her, "shut the **** up, bitch". He proceeds to mumble various profanities that we can clearly hear.

So I start approaching him and ask him to repeat what he said. He tells me to get away from him and I'm not about to pick a fight with a kid so I stop about three feet away from him. I tell him that if he doesn't stop, we're going to record him and send the vid to cops/animal services for animal cruelty (bluff) but I do start recording him on my phone to document the situation.

The ****ing kid actually takes a throw at my head but doesn't release the rock at the last minute. I flinch but if he had actually hit me with the rock, it would've definitely done some damage. I tell him if he actually throws one at me I'll kick his ass (bluff and stupid, I know).

At this point two women walking their babies down the path call me over. I keep the camera on the kid and go talk to them. They explain that he's been caught doing this before and that he's autistic. As if that makes it acceptable somehow. I've dealt with autistic kids before and he seemed pretty coherent by comparison, so I don't buy it. They also tell me his family has frequent visits from the cops and that among other things his 5 yr old sister has been left running naked and unsupervised in the park on more than one occasion.

I figure if this is true, there's pretty much no point in talking to the parents. All this time the stupid kid is mouthing off at me and the gf so I tell him to just shut his pie hole and take the gf away from the scene. As we're leaving we see a woman come out from a row of nearby houses and tell the kid to go right back inside. I ask her who she is and she tells me the kid is her brother. I informed her that he threatened to throw a rock at me and that he's actually throwing rocks at wildlife. She thanks me for telling her and drags him back inside.

So we finish our ride and go home but I don't feel right about the situation. I can tell there's something not right with this kid, and I don't think anything I did today helped him out. In fact, I probably ensured some at-home beating or other unpleasantness for him. Maybe I should have just not gotten involved. Even if we got the authorities involved, if he's under 12 yrs of age, our laws don't allow for him to get anything more than a stern talking to.

So yeah, interesting event of the day. What would you guys have done in my place?
