17" screen 1TB HDD 6GB of RAM Either AMD or nVidia GPU Upper end i5/i7 I've been out of the laptop world and didn't even know about this "turbo" mode crap they're doing now. I was wondering why there are so many low clocked i7s out there, but I guess that's the whole idea. So, what would something like the above run?

Hmm, that's what I was seeing, but there were so few choices at the $1k level I wasn't sure. I'm guessing the GPU is the biggest price hike, the RAM seems pretty standard anymore and i5s are all over the place.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834214604 This is the closest thing I can think of -- it has relatively weak CPU, though (and it is out of stock, too). http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np6175-...er-p-4345.html If you are willing to opt for non-major brands, you can get this, too -- can be configured with quad-core, too. I am not sure about its quality though. Adding 200-300$ more would give you far more options. |
