Witcher 2 Crossfire black screen crash freeze

I mentioned this problem on the general "Witcher 2 + Patch" thread, but the discussion there is focused on the game itself, and I could not get much help over there.

So:

Normally, starting a new game (and skipping the tutorial) will get you:
1 - a couple of videos showing paragraphs of text;
2 - a short 3d (game engine) sequence where Geralt is running;
3 - a brief black screen;
4 - another 3d (game engine) scene, Geralt's face over the whole screen;
5 - other scenes and then the game starts.

The crash problem:
The game freezes completely during step 3 (a brief black screen). After a few seconds the entire system hangs also, and I am forced to completely reboot the PC.
I also got a black screen crash in a seemingly random moment. I was exploring a dark place and approached (but not clicked) a stair, and the game crashed and the computer hung.

Tried solutions:
-> Turning Crossfire on (no 3rd party apps):


Forcing Crossfire through Radeon Pro app:
-> Using "Dirt 2" profile (someone recommended this) the game runs, but I get annoying flickering of the screen when the game engine dynamically adjusts exposure (gets darker when looking at the sky or places too bright; gets brighter when looking at dark places).
-> Using "AFR Friendly" profile, the game starts normally, but I still get the flickering.
- Using "Lost Planet 9 DX9" profile, the game starts normally, runs ridiculously fast, butter smooth, but the game engine also presents problems when dynamically adjusting exposure in a different manner: the exposure keeps shifting and adjusting, as if trying to focus. Also, the intro gets real choppy and skips a lot (Part 2 above, Geralt running).
- Using "Brothers in Arms" profile is the best so far, but Geralt's hair flickers a lot (and some other minor details on scenery).

Using 12.3 cats + CAP1..

For me the crash only happens during that scene, so I disabled crossfire during the intro, and made a save as soon as the game let me, quit the game.

After that I enabled cf again and loaded up the save and the game was running normally again.

Thank you for the tip, it worked!
I am getting very good performance without the need for 3rd party apps.
It is a pity that the crash is still there after the intro animation, very annoying for people who don't know about this glitch.
Fingers crossed and constant quicksaving for the rest of the game.

I'm also having crashs on this game that freezes my PC with the sound looping with a 5770 crossfire setup, my drivers are also the 12.3 with cap 1, i tried disabling crossfire with radeonPro and it worked for some time but then it crashed again, it is not crashing in any place in particular like you guys it just randomly crashes during game play with crossfire off (at lest i think radeonPro is disabling crossfire) or during save loading when crossfire is on.

PC specs:

W7 64bits
Intel Q9550 Quad core
8GB of Ram
Crossfire HD5770 (different vendors)
CT 12.3 Cap 1
Creative Audigy 4 with driver ( Daniel K Audigy support pack 3-8)

It might be a cat 12.3 only issue then, since I'm using cat 12.3 with the 12.3 cap.

I had to disable cfx for intro also, using 12.4betas and latest caps. Might be a unique 7000 series bug

Try reducing the video ram size to Medium under the Witcher's Configuration utility.

hum...didn't worked and this time freezed my PC right on the menu. I also found that disabling crossfire on CCC is better then using radeonPro, i was able to play 3 hours strait today without any crashs when i disabled crossfire using CCC.
