well you still get a warranty with a xfx card if you change the cooling to water you just have to call them first now (in US anyway) but some xfx are still lifetime warranty
if it was not just reference card with a waterblock maybe but 799 is too high for what it is
the evga 580 3gb watercooled is only 679

Just came across this MSI 7970 Lightning. It has a non-reference design with 4x miniDP outputs. Nice alternative to the Asus 7970 DirectCU II with 4x DP outputs. BTW, this MSI is a dual slot design and doesn't take up 3 slots like the Asus.

Could probably use 8X AA at my resolution, but i'd have to see if the reference water blocks fit on these cards first...

I can already tell you that the block will not fit just from looking at the pictures.

yes the vrm's are different than stock or my asus directcu, but ek is making a block for the directcu and they may make one for this
but the caps around each vrm will make it hard

It's possible, but there's also the stacked DVI outputs that would be problematic, since i use a dedicated sound card and a hardware raid card between the water cooled video cards, since EK makes those nice looking single slot backplates....

Sheesh...It was taken with my cell phone and just a quick picture at that...The raid card and sound card took quite a bit of work to install, as i had to pull out the video cards again install those cards first, then put back the video cards checking and adjusting for clearances the entire time, with the case laying on it's side to make it easier...

Edit: the sound and raid cards weren't yet installed in that picture....

The extension cables PCIEx16 are good for bitcoin mining farms that used for more than 4 ATI/AMD cards.

The Sapphire card makes me really excited to see the AIB 7990 variants.. there's still plenty of punch in Tahiti despite GK104 stealing much of its thunder of late.

It's going to be expensive simply because it has 24 memory modules in total(12 on both sides of the card), while the stock version has only 12 on the GPU side, then add the custom PCB with the extra traces, the beefed up power delivery with a pair of 8 pin PCI-e connectors that makes it non PCI-e compliant and the beefed up cooling of course....1900Mhz on the ram is impressive though as it's almost 40% higher than stock, giving the card almost 370GB/sec of memory bandwith and 100 more than stock.

HardOCP has the Saphire 7970OC review up, one awesome card when maxed out plus some info on Trixx. Have to say at high resolutions when the 7970 is OC it is awesome in scaling and as about as perfect as one can expect. I really wonder if HardOCP even know what SSAA does in the drivers, they imply it is only for transparent textures

not everything on the screen you see.

At higher resolutions the performance of the two converges some what, OCing the 7970 then takes it over the top. Still Nvidia 4x TRSSAA is not the same as 8x SSAA on AMD but they don't note the differences and yet the OC 7970 still using SSAA beats out the stock 680.
