At work I have 4 machines running right now (I did have 8 at one point). I've got at work (all Windows server 2008/Windows 7 boxes): Dual socket Xeon 5530 doing SMP 16 (not bigadv)that's giving about 20K-30K PPD. This one was running "bigadv" but I stopped that a couple of days ago because my WU's per day was dropping. It was giving about 40K-45K PPD. Dual sockat Xeon 5660 doing SMP 24 (bigadv) that's giving about 80k-90k PPD. This one was added about 2 weeks ago. This one was running VMware but that sucked large (about 20K PPD with 2 guest sessions) so I converted it to Windows Server 2008 (Didn't have the options to go Linux ).Also have 2 Lenovo S20's (Xeon 5xxx somethings) that I get about 25k-30k PPD combined. These also have Quadro 4000 graphic card that just will not running F@H properly. I wish that I had the option to run Linux on these boxes because Windows only can get bigadv 6900 WU's right now while there is still 6900 WU's available. These don't give a great about of PPD like the other bigadv WU's. I would have liked to see what the dual 5660 could have turned in when running Linux. At Home I have (all Windows 7 boxes): Intel 2600K (@4.5Ghz) - PPD=~23K Intel 2500 (stock) - PPD=~12K AMD Phenom II 975 (@4Ghz)- PPD=~2300 - This one also has to deal with the AMD HD 5770 graphics card that is taking about 25% of the CPU cycles. AMD HD5770 - PPD=~6000 So now that I've open my kimono how about you other folders? What do you guys and gals run? Maybe we can get some good dialogue going that could improve our teams PPD? Like - I'm thinking about dropping Linux on my Phenom 975 box (with the HD5770) to see if the PPD gets better. Anyone with any thoughts on this? I see that we, unlike a lot of other teams, have a very dedicated Folding team here at Rage3D. We don't really have 1 or 2 folders carrying the team. It would be great if we could find simple ways to help current folders add some extra PPD. Any thoughts from the experts on ways to get more bang out of our current rigs?Maybe I should have started a new thread with my last bit of verbal (typed) diarrhea. ![]() |

Hi Bleeder, as to the graphic Quadro 4000. Why not work properly? What version of F@H use? What driver are you? What exact model of Quadro 4000 is? Could you put the ID of the graphics card for inclusion in GPU.txt? Example: 0x10de:0x004d:::NV40GL [Quadro FX 4000] 0x10de:0x004e:::NV40GL [Quadro FX 4000] Could you get the system log F@H? The GPU client, you should always run as a service please do not use the F@H client on Windows. Example: 18:29:49: Version: 7.1.52 18:29:49: Date: Mar 20 2012 18:29:49: Time: 19:37:42 18:29:49: SVN Rev: 3515 18:29:49: Branch: fah/trunk/client 18:29:49: Compiler: Intel(R) C++ MSVC 1500 mode 1200 18:29:49: Options: /TP /nologo /EHa /Qdiag-disable:4297,4103,1786,279 /Ox -arch:SSE 18:29:49: /QaxSSE2,SSE3,SSSE3,SSE4.1,SSE4.2 /Qopenmp /Qrestrict /MT 18:29:49: Platform: win32 XP 18:29:49: Bits: 32 18:29:49: Mode: Release 18:29:49:******************************* System ******************************** 18:29:49: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz 18:29:49: CPU ID: GenuineIntel Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7 18:29:49: CPUs: 8 18:29:49: Memory: 15.91GiB 18:29:49: Free Memory: 13.57GiB 18:29:49: Threads: WINDOWS_THREADS 18:29:49: On Battery: false 18:29:49: UTC offset: 2 18:29:49: PID: 4612 18:29:49: CWD: C:/ProgramData/FAHClient 18:29:49: OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 18:29:49: OS Arch: AMD64 18:29:49: GPUs: 1 18:29:49: GPU 0: FERMI:1 GF106 [GeForce GT 555M SDDR3] 18:29:49: CUDA: 2.1 18:29:49: CUDA Driver: 4020 18:29:49:Win32 Service: false 18:29:49:*********************************************************************** 18:29:49:<config> 18:29:49: <service-description v='Folding@home Client'/> 18:29:49: <service-restart v='true'/> 18:29:49: <service-restart-delay v='5000'/> 18:29:49: 18:29:49: <!-- Client Control --> 18:29:49: <cycle-rate v='4'/> 18:29:49: <cycles v='-1'/> 18:29:49: <data-directory v='.'/> 18:29:49: <disable-project-lookup v='false'/> 18:29:49: <exec-directory v='C:\Program Files (x86)\FAHClient'/> 18:29:49: <exit-when-done v='false'/> 18:29:49: <threads v='4'/> 18:29:49: 18:29:49: <!-- Configuration --> 18:29:49: <config-rotate v='true'/> 18:29:49: <config-rotate-dir v='configs'/> 18:29:49: <config-rotate-max v='16'/> 18:29:49: 18:29:49: <!-- Debugging --> 18:29:49: <assignment-servers> 18:29:49: assign3.stanford.edu:8080 assign4.stanford.edu:80 18:29:49: </assignment-servers> 18:29:49: <capture-directory v='capture'/> 18:29:49: <capture-sockets v='false'/> 18:29:49: <debug-sockets v='false'/> 18:29:49: <exception-locations v='true'/> 18:29:49: <gpu-assignment-servers> 18:29:49: assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80 assign-GPU.stanford.edu:8080 18:29:49: </gpu-assignment-servers> 18:29:49: <stack-traces v='false'/> 18:29:49: 18:29:49: <!-- Error Handling --> 18:29:49: <max-slot-errors v='5'/> 18:29:49: <max-unit-errors v='5'/> 18:29:49: 18:29:49: <!-- FahCore Control --> 18:29:49: <checkpoint v='10'/> 18:29:49: <core-dir v='cores'/> 18:29:49: <core-priority v='idle'/> 18:29:49: <cpu-affinity v='false'/> 18:29:49: <cpu-usage v='100'/> 18:29:49: <no-assembly v='false'/> 18:29:49: 18:29:49: <!-- Folding Slot Configuration --> 18:29:49: <client-subtype v='STDCLI'/> 18:29:49: <client-type v='normal'/> 18:29:49: <cpu-species v='X86_PENTIUM_II'/> 18:29:49: <cpu-type v='AMD64'/> 18:29:49: <cpus v='-1'/> 18:29:49: <cuda-index v='0'/> 18:29:49: <extra-core-args v='-forceasm'/> 18:29:49: <gpu v='true'/> 18:29:49: <gpu-usage v='100'/> 18:29:49: <max-packet-size v='normal'/> 18:29:49: <opencl-index v='0'/> 18:29:49: <os-species v='UNKNOWN'/> 18:29:49: <os-type v='WIN32'/> 18:29:49: <project-key v='0'/> 18:29:49: <smp v='true'/> 18:29:49: 18:29:49: <!-- Logging --> 18:29:49: <log v='log.txt'/> 18:29:49: <log-color v='false'/> 18:29:49: <log-crlf v='true'/> 18:29:49: <log-date v='false'/> 18:29:49: <log-date-periodically v='21600'/> 18:29:49: <log-debug v='true'/> 18:29:49: <log-domain v='false'/> 18:29:49: <log-header v='true'/> 18:29:49: <log-level v='true'/> 18:29:49: <log-no-info-header v='true'/> 18:29:49: <log-redirect v='false'/> 18:29:49: <log-rotate v='true'/> 18:29:49: <log-rotate-dir v='logs'/> 18:29:49: <log-rotate-max v='16'/> 18:29:49: <log-short-level v='false'/> 18:29:49: <log-simple-domains v='true'/> 18:29:49: <log-thread-id v='false'/> 18:29:49: <log-thread-prefix v='true'/> 18:29:49: <log-time v='true'/> 18:29:49: <log-to-screen v='true'/> 18:29:49: <log-truncate v='false'/> 18:29:49: <verbosity v='5'/> 18:29:49: 18:29:49: <!-- Network --> 18:29:49: <proxy v=':8080'/> 18:29:49: <proxy-enable v='false'/> 18:29:49: <proxy-pass v=''/> 18:29:49: <proxy-user v=''/> 18:29:49: 18:29:49: <!-- Process Control --> 18:29:49: <child v='false'/> 18:29:49: <daemon v='false'/> 18:29:49: <pid v='false'/> 18:29:49: <pid-file v='Folding@home Client.pid'/> 18:29:49: <respawn v='false'/> 18:29:49: <service v='false'/> <<<<<<<<<<< ¡¡¡¡ IF TRUE GPU CLIENT DOES NOT WORK !!!!!!!!! The AMD Phenom II 975 uses smp2 and leaves a processor for AMD HD 5770. Do not use SMP3, can create problems. Sorry for my English. A greeting. |

Hey Rulotrapax... I don't want to hijack this thread with my Quadro 4000 problems but it just will not work properly. It doesn't matter what client I run ( from 6.x to 7.x or what nVidia drivers I use, the "15" WU's fail every time. The only way that I can make them work is to power off the workstation, wait for a bit then power it back on. It may fold 1 or 2 WU's then it starts failing again. The card looks to be manufactured by nVidia as there are no other markings on it. It must be either a BIOS or card problem causing the issue. I've upgraded the BIOS of the workstation and there doesn't look to be any firmware for the card so at this point I think it's a lost cause. It's too bad because the few WU's it's done have been great for estimated PPD. oh well.Thank you for you for your help though! ![]() |

While very unlikely it could be the slot it's plugged into as well. Have you tried it on another workstation just for kicks? Void4ever

Hi Bleeder. Could you try to set the gpu slot with "client-type" "advanced"? Expert mode, Configure, Slots, select GPU, Edit, Add, Name: client-type , Value: advanced, OK, Save. Do you have your power-savings setting cofigured to "turn off the monitor" after some time? Disable it. This configuration is valid with Quadro 4000, f@h version 7.1.52, driver version 296.35, without overclocking. Could you get the system log F@H? Could you put the log when it fails? A greeting. |

congrats rtangwai! sucks about the boss though. there is no better burn in software to use. just tell him to ask HP Cloud Services if he needs further proof. also congrats to jmscott42, not only for breaking back into the 6 digit production range, but for taking the #2 spot on the team!
