I understand, but playing against the same people all over gets way too boring. It should all be about bringing new blood to the game, but ruling out those "noobs", well... we were all noobs once right? I've seen servers kicking me because there "friend" wanted to join, what is the fun in that?

That is how lots of people think, and to be honest I enjoy the regular "pwning noobs" because that's the only way for them to get better. Which leads to more people liking the game (instead of uninstalling it).

Biggest pile of crap I read today. If there is one group playing douche bag constantly, then it is those that think they are so pro that no-one else can touch them (clanners). We all know them (hope your not one of them). But you can easily notice them by the way they write. It usually goes like this:

* lucker!
* /kill plx you fail at life
* /uninstall you fail at COD
* /shotgun this is painful to watch

Random people can be annoying as well, but most of them do not have the egos which the above people have. I enjoy killing those "pro" people, but it is always annoying when you think you get respected, yet get called out as being an hacker.

Rules you say? They make no sense. Enabling camp protection because people think it is unfair, yet go all britney when a sniper dies while being forced to rush into three guys that have full autos. Or what about constantly (unintentionally) killing admins of a server, and get kicked/banned because they get irritated? (another + for match making).

Don't get me wrong, I miss dedicated server(s) as well but I have accepted it. I am really glad that the overall environment in MW2 is way better than the previous games. Maybe the boy-cotters can be blamed for that? I do not know.

Default Modern Warfare 2 Review @ VE3D

"My brother is a casual gamer, FPS games only, and in recent years he's kept to the Call of Duty series. As a casual gamer he does not visit gaming sites such as VE3D, and is not privy to the rants of disgruntled fans, petitions, recalls, and sales stats. He also couldn't care less. He just knows that he's enjoyed past CoD titles and had to have Modern Warfare 2.

So who better to review Modern Warfare 2 than someone who has not been affected by the media hype and has no real expectations? Someone who had never even seen an MW2 trailer, and only knew about the game's upcoming release because of the buzz at his place of employment. Yup, my brother. We'll call him Asswad for dramatic effect."

All I got from that 'review' is that ignorance is bliss, and what you don't know can't hurt you.

It's like people who listen to music only in .MP3 format at 128kbps bit rate using dinky earphones being totally happy because they've never listened to a high quality recording through a proper sound system, and have no clue what they're missing.

Unfortunately, most businesses rely on that kind of ignorance to push sub-quality tat."

Maybe that's why IW/Activision are swimming in $ right now?

lol scripted?? heheh you don't buy CoD series for SP.. think of the SP as a free bonus to the MP. If you are not interested in MP I'd just dl the "extended demo" and save $60.. but if you want to play the best online shooter around by all means shell out for this excellent MP FPS.

lol 4 hours? I already have over 26 hours in MP and about another 6 in coop missions plus the 4 or 5 from SP, seems like better value than most games to me so far..

I think that the singleplayer in mw2>mw1.

Mostly because they've cut down on the respawning enemies and the grenade spam, in mw1 the grenades were raining down left and right making it a very annoying experience on the veteran difficulty.

So I personally don't care that mw2 is about 2 hours shorter than mw1, it was more fun to play.

MW1 sniper mission "back in time" completely destroys MW2 SP. It was ****ing insane to protect yourself and your friend after you made THE shot with that HUGE sniper.

Then again I might be biased since I am a sniper guy. But that whole mission was insane. Crawling around enemies/tanks

I also liked that mission+the ac130 mission, but when I think about the rest of the game, the first thing that pops into my mind is the "clink, clink, clink" from the grenades

Agreed!
By far the best game I've played this year. When you look
at the total package, single player to multiplayer to special ops
it's well worth $60. I loved MW1 but MW2 out does it in every
aspect.

That sniper mission was great in MW1.. but if you have friends you can play it again in coop/specops mode in MW2

MW2 wins.

EDIT/ for anyone interested it's called "Hidden" in the Charlie spec ops missions. BTW I saw they just released a small patch today to "improve IWNet matchmaking"

So I played some MP and got Rank 4 (in 30 minutes). Looks like one but I need to upgrade my internets. Overall a great MP experience, the guys with level 47 etc were good. I got a 12 kills 14 deaths ratio. Not the best but I am not playing to be best. I am playing to enjoy and CoD MW2 delivered on that front (I love team deathmatches since I am simple like that).

However, man do the graphics look like ass. It's like CS all over again. Oh well, there isn't a single MP shooter I've played with decent graphics but then again I've played like 5-10 MP shooters in the first place.

Give it a solid 8/10 for MP (for now).

You can't really judge the game's multiplayer just on these few weeks - as everyone is playing it atm and there will be a higher density of high bandwidth pipes amongst the playerbase.

Once the novelty wears off for the non CoD players and they go back to their games like CS:S etc, the overall quality of the multiplayer will dip due to less high bandwidth hosts available.

Whereas with a game that supports dedicated servers, like CoD4 or CS:S it doesn't matter how old the game is or how many people still play - chances are you will find many dedicated servers with great performance to play on.

Btw, anyone up for specops mode? Would love to play with you guys. It's a bit gay that you can't just play spec ops with any guy. It has to be a steam friend. Let me know and I will add you.

people are going crazy, all this means is that first week MW2 sales were better than first week MW1 sales, which was to be predicted. The real test will be overall sales, MW1 managed to be no.6 best selling PC game at US retail, I somehow seriously doubt MW2 will achieve this level for 2010

see man, once you look past the corporate bull**** it still delivers the goods.
One more round, one more level, one more perk.. next thing you know the sun comes up and you turn into a pile of dust

and its good that graphics arent amazing. you need 100+ fps in mp

Totally agree, at the end of the day IW know how to make quality FPS, it's just activision with their money grabbing ways giving it a bad name.. there really isnt a better MP FPS out atm imo.

also about MP FPS... it's capped to 85 now.. well you can change it for 1 map but when the map changes it goes back to 85.. only happened since last patch.. sucks tbh because for smooth gameplay on a 60hz screen you really need either 125 or 250 like cod4 and waw.

rofl I guess you have never played promod in cod4 or waw then :P it strips the game of dynamic lighting, bump/normal maps and a lot of other stuff so everyone gets 250 fps solid.. but it doesnt look too bad with the AA and AF cranked up and when you play in competitive scrims no ones stops to look at the scenery anyway

btw you need to play S&D not TDM.. no respawns makes people play properly..
