Default Tracking Down A MW2 Cyber-Pirate

Damn, what a ride. Apparently took less than a week. Give it a read if you like.

Christian Del Amo, an 18-year-old who was known as a modder and had a site for selling modded Xbox 360 hard disks on iOffer.com, an eBay-like site. The modder advertised 250-gigabyte Western Digital hard drives, loaded with 125 hacked games, for $150.
the kid was asking for it.. you cant get away with that kind of thing, they will be onto you like a ton of bricks.. hes lucky they got him earlier than later.

but since this is activision they will most likely throw the book at him.

Since its Activision the evil empire, I doubt many people actually care. Kind of like when robbers do a big heist from a bank and nobody gets hurt.

It was just an interesting read for me because it demonstrates how the gaming world views the different types of pirates. Iow's, the people that make a direct profit off the act of pirating an ip are considered higher priority by the gaming industry than say your typical p2p site/user. I guess my views are somewhat more 'skewed' than most. If I was lets say an singer, and I was already filthy rich I doubt I'd care if a few thousand people illegally d/l'ed my song(s). Corporate entities are truly the downfall of this country (USA)!

I don't blame them for wanting to protect their investment. Making games is getting exponentially more expensive. How difficult is it to pay for what you play?

I was always told that if you cannot afford something, you don't need it. Likewise, any discussion I have about corporate America would be better served in the R&P forum .

Well this time of year it is hard to afford all the AAA releases. I picked up Borderlands and Dragon Age and pre-ordered Mass Effect 2 so it means waiting on MW2, ACII, LFD2, etc. Its just like anything else sometimes you can't always afford what you want and have to wait. I think that is something that comes with growing older and maturity rather than the entitlement attitude a lot of people have that they deserve to play the games whether they pay for it or not.
