Bilbo Bagshot: I used to know this guy, Minty. He had a dog who he'd train to attack rich people. He was into the whole class-war thing. He called the dog Gramsci after an Italian Marxist. Rumor has it, it could smell wealth from up to 20 feet. The thing is, it all backfired. Minty won 100 grand on a scratchcard and Gramsci bit his knees off.

Bilbo Bagshot: Not really. He used the money to buy new knees.

Well now that the Vampire series moved to another edition on P&P it looks like it will never happen.

And I also think there is a mod that enables multiplayer, I have to look for it.

Bought.

It appears this game will take some good sit down time to learn and play. Gawd I love that!!! Anti-consolitus ftw.

The manual that came with the retail verison of Bloodlines is well-written and very useful. The Steam version should have it in PDF format. If you have not already, try right-clicking the game's entry in your Steam games list to see if there is a link. If you find nothing there, try looking in the game installation folder.

This game rocks, and rocks hard. What Clan are you playing as?

Haven't played the game in ages but I still remember every quest... *cough* dialogue. I've finished the game so many times (8-10?) it's hardly enjoyable anymore.

fyi - saw on bluesnews there's a major community patch coming soon

if you're playing the game, you should DEFINITELY install the patch

EDIT: FYI Chuck, NBC bought more Chuck so it will probably start before March 2010 :-)

Aren't there any texture pack mods for this game? Visuals are rather bad. With such a rabid following I find it hard to believe I can't find any, wtf??

Sadly after looking around I hear that texture mods are rather difficult for this game. I even started a thread at planet vampire asking the same thing. I was just pointed to some skins.

3 issues:

There is something wrong. When ever I move in any direction it looks like the screen is skipping frames, very jittery and unsmooth. If I stand still and mouse look around everything is butter smooth. Any ideas?

Also, is this as good as the gfx get?

And what's that big stupid red thing in the upper left corner?

An artifact. It's not supposed to be there.

There are basically no tools for the game, and it uses a pre half-life 2 source engine so we got screwed on mods. As for the red thing, it looks like graffiti? Like someone put it there on purpose, are you playing just vanilla or did you get an unofficial patch from somewhere?

Um, you do realize this game was released 5 years ago right? It doesn't sound like much, but it's an eternity in video game graphics. I don't think it's that much of an issue though, it's the gameplay and atmosphere that make it awesome.

Well the jittering while moving I solved by going from 8xaa to 4xaa.

Graphics are pants but I'll have to deal with it since there isn't texture mods much.

That graffiti red thing must be a part of the 6.5 unofficial patch I put on and goes away by itself after about 4 min.

Played a few hours so far I'm not that impressed. What really bothers me is the lack of reason to live right off the bat. I find it rather weak the Prince simply gives me a general goal of 'prove yourself worthy'. Perhaps its not that dumb and the story hasn't shown me why his demand is interesting yet.

You know, i never though of that.. or maybe i did, but forgot.. either way your right, but its hard not to get really involved as the story goes later, especially when you figure out that there are real outcomes to your choices in the story, unlike the witcher where your choices are cosmetic, you really change the story with your choices in this game. Though you still go through all the same areas and such.

I urge you to keep playing till you get to the second city, if you still don't like it by then, then it is probably not for you.

That is because you installed the bloom graphic mod (it goes away by itself), remember you can turn it off by pressing shift+F12

Not really, I do have the ENB mod installed but using it is out of the question. Frame rate goes to the 10fps range when on. I bet it works much better on NV.

Thats what the ENB mod adds, and yes it does hit the graphic engine pretty hard. I only enable it in certain places, because it adds a different touch to the game.

And by your previuos posts I'm sure you are not going to like this game.

Game is starting to gel a bit now. I was like WTF after I frenzied for the first time, killed a main character of the game in a heartbeat. Has some nice SS2 moments where the game stacks several creative requirements on top of each other for just 1 task to be accomplished. Cops are on my ass after some darn chick squealed on me, not sure how to get them off my back yet, just going out of my way avoiding them for the time being. Dialog working takes getting use to, its english but of a different tongue sort of speak. Could use some character menu like The Witcher to aid me keeping track of people and things.

Overall, as long as I remember this is an older game, I'm enjoying it.

The speech and dialogue can change dramatically depending on what clan you play, for example, the Malkavian speech is very different to all the others. Unique

Malkavian is exactly the clan I'm playing, female stripper gymnast. I really have to read and try to understand wtf my character's responses often are.

LOL, there's your problem, if you have not gotten to far yet, go back and start as one of the others... except Nosferatu, Malkav and Noferatu are really goode for a second playthough, but not so much in the first one... though, the malkav is easily the funniest!
