this was not a great deal as I hoped it would be.

I was going to buy it from amazon for $199 with no tax and free shipping, so I can get the $100 amazon gift card and use it for buying a second Playstation 3.
and then sell the xbox arcade on amazon.... however there are a lot of people selling a brand new xbox arcade for $160 so that would mean I would lose money on xbox so I didn't go for this deal.

I picked up two today with this deal, even used the gift card from the first one to buy the 2nd. I figure 1 for my bedroom so it can collect dust or I can send my daughter in there to watch netlflix that doesnt tear and 1 to sell or give as a gift. Even if I just put the 2nd in my duaghters room for netflix, $200. for 2 360 arcades is an unbeatable deal.

Also if my 360 I already have ever RRoD's I'll have a spare to use when I RMA it.

Xbox 360 sales increase 400% at Walmart following Gift Card promo

Walmart announced last week that they would be bundling $100 gift cards with the Xbox 360 Arcade for $199 on November 7th in one of a number of pre-Black Friday sales over the coming weeks. Preliminary VGChartz estimates place total sales across all Walmart stores for the week at around 90,000 units (the majority coming from the 7th November) - over 5 times the sales at Walmart for the previous week. Total sales across the Americas should come in at around 170,000 this week - up 90% on last week and around 70% more than PS3.
With the latest news that the promotion is expected to continue through to the 15th November, we expect that sales will be higher still next week, especially with the launch of Modern Warfare 2 tomorrow.
Stay tuned to VGChartz for all the finalised data later this week.

Looks like more than a few thought it was a great deal. Looks like there will but alot of 360's under Christmas trees this year along with MW2.

I didnt go till about 1:30 and the Walmart I went to I got the last one in the box behind the counter and when I said I wanted another, they just went and got another box. Also there display case had at least 5 in there yet.

A friend of mine called his local Walmart at 6:30pm and they said they had 15 left. He didnt get there to pick it up till about 9pm and I dont know how many they had but he got one.

I think netflix works w/o the HDD but I havent gotten around to hooking that one up yet so I dont know for sure.
Also if u pick one up the 360 wireless adapter is way too expensive there are other options for about $40 and up.

yes, it is a great deal if you don't own a xbox... heck it is an amazing deal if you don't own xbox and ps3 or wii... since you can get xbox and ps3 for $400 or xbox and wii for $300 because of this deal.

but for me it wasn't an amazing deal... and also for some it may not be a great deal as well since you still need to pay for a hard drive, accessories and etc for xbox.

I have owned a Wii and I have used a xbox360 for awhile but nintendo and MS need to make a lot of chances on their systems if they wanted me to keep owning a Wii or wanted me to buy a xbox 360.
even though these kinda deals are nice and they attract a lot of customers, I personally prefer fixing, improving, adding functionality rather than price cuts or gift cards. but thats just me.

If your talking about MS and or the 360 what does a price cut have to do with adding anything or improving anything? Why can't you have both and didn't the PS3 just have a price cut? This deal was not a price cut is was a Walmart deal which I'm sure is pretty smart, they may lose $100 up front but they will make that up with games sold and so on.

In the end the walmart deal is fantastic for parents wanting to save some cash the Christmas and that's always a good thing and personally I'm hoping that have a deal like this for the PS3 because we are buying one for my son this Christmas.

it was a good deal for anyone that thought PS3 was expensive at the moment. so that was the reason why I thought people can take advantage of it.

However I didn't buy PS3 based on its price or just because of that deal.
PS3 exclusives was the reason why I was mainly attracted to PS3, not that deal. though it did help me get it cheaper.

I wanted to try all the consoles for this generation as a PC gamer and I gave all of them a fair trial. I honestly didn't think I would keep any of them. But I actually liked what PS3 offered and PS3/PSN was close to my own principles as a PC gamer.

I had to stay within my limit which was $600 since that's how much I got from the tax refund thanks to Bush.
I would not have gotten a PS3 if everything was over $600.
and without the credit card deal I would have been over $600 with the monitor.
price of the PS3 was an issue for me as well back in 2008 and I was not thinking about buying a PS3 until I found that deal. I am not denying that and I am not denying the fact I probably would not have bought a PS3 if I would not have found the credit card deal.

but I could have used the credit card deal to get xbox 360 as well so as much as the credit card deal helped me buy a Ps3 it was not the reason why I got a ps3.

I am not denying deals can help you get the system you want or want to try and make it cheaper for you and etc. but you probably had your eye on that system or wanted to try that system for awhile or was attracted to that system for awhile.

I do remember saying I was going to give current gen consoles a shot before creating that thread.
