Looks at the program that rhymes with Chuck Norrent, hmm i wonder

Nah im not wasting my bandwidth but its kind of sad that probably one of the most active competitive pc games is just cut off like that. I prefer to play Red Orchestra, and hope that Heroes of Stalingrad will get all the ex Cod6 anticipants.

Wow, if wasn't so dead set against the lack of dedicated server support, and the un-replaceable loss it entails to PC gamers, I would buy the game for them doing this alone.

There are about this many people on Earth --> http://www.poodwaddle.com/worldclock.swf

Questions are, how many have PC's, how many play FPS's, how many are dumb enough to buy an unfinished game?

IW = incompleted work

Got me by the shoes!

Probably due to the fact that IW now seems to be biased towards pc gamers. When you join their team it most likely indicates in the fine-print you must hold a 'grudge' against pc gamers and the evil that we do.

there's nothing inherently wrong with 9v9 gameplay. what sucks is that infinity ward is limiting choice by keeping the maximum size allowed as 9v9. this is a by product of the fact that they are not supporting dedicated servers. back in the day when i used to play counter strike for example, playing in 32 man pub servers and 5v5 games each had their own appeal. it's not like 5v5 made the game any less balanced or less fun to play. similarly, for rtcw/et, 6-8 players per team was also perfectly fine.

less players doesn't automatically make a game bad. the limitation on choice here is the real problem, imo.

Less players = match / ladder feeling games and no one in their right mind would play all their games that way as it becomes more like a job. Well for me anyways

it's a matter of personal preference, and thus, it's quite unfair to say that 'no one in their right mind would play all their games like that'. larger servers have less strategy and more chaos, which people could find just as unappealing as you find smaller servers. my point was, a game doesn't suddenly become bad because of lower player counts. the problem here is that they are forcing those lower player counts, and taking away our choice in the matter.

There was so much more potential to be had on the PC with stream, DX11 and so on, i still dont understand why most companys just dont invest in some good solid copy protection, theres been a few games released in the past which haven't been crackable.. without lame online protection.. such as steam account required for a retail version or the kind of protection EA have been using recently.

just seems like a losing game for developers i suppose if they put good protection on a DVD gamers will whinge about it... and seems basicly they dont want protection and will threaten to boycott if it does, its that kind of attitude that has contributed to all this happening and ultimately most developers neglecting the platform..

I guess doing it this way shows they are not going to tolerate it... it was bound to have a significent effect somewhere along the line, ideally lets hope the mass piraters learn from this.

I'm not a large IW fan or of the COD franchise. However regardless of how I actually feel personally, I've been watching some walkthrough videos at gameanyone.com and the game looks like a blast to play. The civy act will blow you way. Just sayin...

ps. GOTY guys...just wait and see.

If this wasn't a fallow up to MW1 and had no connection to COD what would your ( speaking to everyone reading this ) thoughts of the game be? Think of it as a spinoff clone and a completely new IP made by someone else.

No dedi servers would be a major put off we all know that but besides that what would you think of the game.

I started competitive online gaming with Rainbow 6 raven shield and I loved it even though it was only 8v8 max / 5v5 matches so a game like this would most likely turn out to be a great replacement for that. The single player looks good, graphics look the same as MW1 but I like them, and multiplayer looks to be fun with all the new perks and stuff.

So all in all its not a bad looking game as long as we don't see it as a CoD game and expect it to be what CoD has always been.

That said I still feel they shafted us by changing the game we all love into something else without informing us of the changes till the last week.

If this was an unknown game with no dedicated server support I would certainly never even consider buying it, there would be close to zero players playing it online.

That will probably not be the case with mw2/cod6 as the series is so huge, so they will probably get away with not using dedicated servers, but an unknown ip, no way.

Weird heh? Treyarch has been supporting WaW with patches and 3 mappacks far longer than IW did with Cod4, which only had 1 mappack, btw.

Yesterday's developer chat hosted by BestBuy has revealed more bad news regarding the PC version of Modern Warfare 2, which will hit the stores in under a week from now. After Infinity Ward's new multiplayer model and their decision not to incorporate dedicated servers lead to a massive discussion across the various community forums, the results of yesterday's chat session will no doubt put more fuel on the fire.

In a community chat session with Mackey McCandlish, Ryan Lastimosa and Vince Zampella of Infinity Ward it has become apparant that there will be no console in Modern Warfare 2, stating "we would like you to play the game the way we designed and balanced it" when asked about the possibility to change the fov, remove perks and graphical debris and tweak the weapons for further balance.
