It could squeeze out more over time and cover better thus invalidating any conclusions. Besides if you read the instructions arcticsilver tells you to use a dot on some CPUs and a line on others.

Dot or line is simple. Dot if a single die (Pentium 4, Core 2 Duo, i5/i7), line if dual-die (Pentium D, Core 2 Quad).

lol you failed! It's also a line for Core i7!

http://www.arcticsilver.com/ins_rout...2intelas5.html Look at the bottom right picture.

Better redo your heatsink!

You tell me to redo my heatsink when I'm idling at 27C at the moment? My load temps don't even properly break over 55C. No, I think I failed at anything or I'd be doing exactly what you said, redoing my mounting job. No thank you, dealt with that on that crappy Dark Knight enough times.

I'm thinking socket 1366 Core i7 is what your talking about considering how much smaller socket 1156 i7 is. There's barely enough room FOR a line unless it's a really small line

I always use a pair of brackets )( across 2/3 of the heatsink, centered. Always gives me a good spread even on crappy Xigmateks
