So looks like I might be able to sell my card for around 180-190 bones and a new 5850 is approximately 95-100$ extra if I am to purchase that mofo.

Worth it or not? Tell me..

what a sale, that's for your 4870 right? those are $150 new

i'd sell it regardless if i was getting a 5850 (but a 5850 would be a nice boost... http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/HIS/HD_5850/10.html plus lower power, lower heat, lower noise, dx11)

http://tpucdn.com/reviews/HIS/HD_585...noise_load.gif oh my

Just scratch the itch already! You don't need 4 people to tell you that scratching makes it itch less!

How are the power requirements like? Haven't followed this 5XXX series from ATi, except 5870 in terms of benchmarks etc.

Rest of stuff is in the sidebar. Other changes I will possibly be making is upgrading to Windows 7 Pro sometime soon.

Tell me.
I'd suggest getting the 5850 since it's so cheap. Money is not an issue, but since you posted your dissatisfaction with the drivers, paying less has got to counterbalance those feelings somewhat.

Good luck finding one:

If you want a cheap 5800 series card, then it looks like you’re out of luck until 2010.

Deal didn't go through so still holding onto the 4870. Also sort of weary about purchasing another ATi again. Might actually wait till January to finalize what I want to do next. If the card doesn't get sold this week, I am getting windows 7 instead of a 5850.

Primary reason: ****er didn't purchase my card
Secondary reason: I am still weary

Corollary: Had the ****er purchased the card a week back when I was less weary and had the itch, I would already have a 5850.

What's so tough to get in all of this...

Simple, people know that you are not crazy about ATI's drivers so the question your reasoning, that's all.

I haven't babbled about ATi drivers in a while. Actually recently, games have been decent on ATi drivers (hence the consideration of 5850/5870 in the first place). Apart from NFS Shift which would enter the hall of fame of good games that I never got around to finishing due to poor ATi drivers/graphics card performance (irrespective of who's fault it is) similar to say Cryostasis.
