That's great, I could see one and then perhaps a pair of those little rippers in my box!

It is almost on par with a 4870 both @stock. But I think a card like VS's can highly OC will faster than the 4870. |

Looking a few review the HD4870 512mb average ~15%faster than the HD4850512mb, so the HD5770 faster than that, HD4870 1GB version ~30%faster than the HD4850512mb, so average performance between the two, closer to the 1GB version with a early beta driver ![]()

These evergreen cards are looking solid in all ranges. The minimum FPS boost makes a big difference i think.

How's supersampling working out at those resolutions?? Does the card have acceptable performance or is it too slow?

Nice!! With numbers like that I think I'll grab a 5770 for sure. (I'm still on a 1280x1024 monitor and don't plan on upgrading till it goes poof)

Could you lay an HD4850 and the HD5770 side by side... (or could you get a tape measure and measure JUST the PCB of the HD5770) if you don't want to remove the HD5770 from your rig... There are countless people asking how long it is compared to the HD4850/70 ect... I haven't measured it myself yet, but it seems about the same length..

I owned a EVGA 8800GTX 768MB and running on a PC with Q6600@3,2Ghz, 4x1GB DDR2@1000Mhz. The result on the Residence Evil test at 1680x1050@default setting@directx10 is higher then the HD4850 at your benchmark. I'm thinking to change my trusty 8800GTX with the HD4850, but I think I'll hold because I think the HD4850 is not a good upgrade from my 8800GTX right? |

no man that is not a good upgrade at all. I went from a 8800gtx to a 47870 and that wasnt really an upgrade in every sense. If you really want an ati go at least for a 5850 from a 8800gtx.

I got the ASUS EAH5770 CuCore and it's the best ATI card I have ever had (even more impressive than my first ATI 9700 and that was a monster for it's day). I haven't updated my newer system specs yet but this card takes all the games I throw at it and eats them!! My monitor only does 1440 x 900 so for my purposes it's great!! Runs great, price was great, low power and noise so theres no more I can say. They have just released a 5770 with a "Hydra chip" so down the track (with the right mobo) I could x-fire another then add a cheap Nvidia for Physics if needed!!!!!
