I have an awesome theory about what the island, hatch, monster, my friend sent but R3d is giving me issues with it..from imbd forums...
edit:
I swear if these theories my friend sent me were from the wiki spoilers... he will die.... i can guarentee that.. because they make so much damn sense....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Island explanation

There are legends about a hole through the center of the earth and passing through the core. The legends also place a mysterious island called Rupes Nigra at its entrance."

---

That theory may sound silly for some, but hey:

You know what "Rupes Nigra" means in Latin: BLACK ROCK.

What do you think?

Another nice piece of information that i found there:

---

So here's some interesting information about the Yoruba religion, a native African religion, practiced mostly in Nigeria, and brought to America by African slaves (perhaps on a slave ship like the Black Rock?)

Yemaya: Goddess of the Oceans. Worshippers light fires on the beach in her honor.
[the pillar of black smoke was lit on the beach by the Others].

Eleggua: He makes communications possible between humans and the gods. He brings magic into the world of humans.
He is often depicted as a mischeivous young boy. He brings meaning to coincidences.
[Walt? Mischeivous young boy with magical powers].

Obatala: He is a god represented by the color white.
He is a creator god, but a Yoruba legend says that while drunk, he accidentally created cripples.
[Locke was a cripple. We don't know if Locke was drunk when he got crippled, but we know he was drunk after finding out his father stole his kidney.
Plus Locke seems to be the "white" in the black and white backgammon game going on on the island].

Ibejí/Ibeyi: The Ibejí as the divine twins are a symbol of infancy, childhood and the duality of life.
In Yoruba culture the worship of Ibejí is to propitiate the birth and incarnated spirit of twins.
[two of the Others on the boat who steal Walt were twins].

The Numbers

The famous numbers "4 8 15 16 23 42" are the exact coordinates of a place in Nigeria.

Latitude: 4.8151
Longitude: 6.2342

PS: As you know, the drugsmugglers were from Nigeria.

PS2: I read somewhere that the place itself is cursed by the locals.

PS3: ok the numbers are the coordinates of that place... now, does anyone have more information about that particular area or any way to explain the importance of Nigeria in this show???

Do you think that at some point in the show we will see what's going on in that place? (maybe they go to Nigeria when they finally leave the island?)

PS4: Hey... but check what happens if you separate the numbers like this:

Latitude: 4.815
Longitude: 162.342

Then you find the place where you would expect their plane to go down. Between Sydney and LAX... any thought?

Whats in The Hatch

What's in the hatch: TRANSIT or CAB

Here is what I came up with. Using the clues that it was 7 letters and begins and ends with the same letter, and some of us were there this morning, and we see it every day but in a way we have never seen THIS before, and we are probably seeing it right now, I came up with TRANSIT.

Also, the other recent clue was that it it can be shortened to be a three letter word where the first and last letter are next to each other in the alphabet.

Oh yes, I took the time to do all combinations. And besides the word SET, DOC, and FOG, I also came up with CAB. Which would go along with TRANSIT.

Makes sense that they find something down there that will help them have transportation from point a to point b. Especially since they need to be able to spend season 2 travelling the other side of the island.

Anyway, that's my theory. We will see. TRANSIT and CAB.

It makes the most sense that they can't figure out what it is and then by episode 3 they realize that it is a cab/transit so that they can go from place to place in a more efficient and quicker manner. It seems season 2 will be an exploration season, and what better way than having your own taxi transport.

Also, when the clue says some of us were there this morning, it just seems to make sense. Something we see everyday, but we

---------------------------------------------------------

Frankly, parrington, your theory scares me because it makes a helluva lotta sense. I'm a firm believer in the Mapquest Theory (You go on Mapquest, enter Hurley's unlucky numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 ,42 and you get a spot in the southern Central African Republic.)

It's been posted by myself and a few others on these boards about the importance of vile vortices. Take the sphere shape of the Earth and reshape it into a duodecahadron (A 20 sided shape with triangular sections. Think the shape of a Dungeons & Dragons die.) Each triangle is a Vile Vortice, a kind of hot zone of electromagnetic activity. Vile Vortice #18 is the Bermuda Triangle and Vortice #16 encompasses Hamikulia, Hawaii, site of some extremely violent volcanic activity. Check out www.deepinfo.com/WorldGrid.htm for a map of the vortices. Two in particular could relate to LOST. Vortice #45 is located east of Australia, north of New Zealand, a possible location for "Lostralia."

The Vile Vortice theory could explain why the compasses on the island point to true rather than magnetic North. It could also explain how John Locke regains the use of his legs because electromagnetic therapy is a non-surgical method of rejuvinating damaged limbs.

The payoff to parrington's theory is this: Referring again to the Vile Vortice map, vortice #20 encompasses the Algerian Megaliths in North Central Africa. The spot on Mapquest you get when you enter Hurley's numbers in the Central African Republic is located inside this vortice. Nigeria is about 200 miles from this spot. Vile Vortice #20 is at the exact antipodal (opposite) point as Vile Vortice #45 (possible Lostralia location.) Is it possible that the Nigerian plane found by Locke and Boone flew over vortice #20, and got sucked into a vortex that crashed the plane at the exact opposite point on the other side of the world?

Is it therefore possible to assume that the cursed numbers on the hatch are geographic coordinates that tell you where you will end up if you go through? Is the hatch capping a tunnel that stretches across the planet? If that's the case, parrington's theory fits. A train or some cab-like transit device that could transport straight across the globe.

I agree.
Ofcourse the show just gets more messed up everytime I see it, I guess the writers WANT to make it that way.
I honestly think they have no clue as to how they'll end the show --they are just making it up as they go along.

I saw the season premiere too. Overall, it was pretty good. Like Payne said, I think if people are looking for an all-encompassing explanation outside the supernatural, they will be disappointed. Personally, I'm fine with keeping things as theories.

I thought that too.. but I read that theyalready had a number of seasons written.. I think it was 6 or 7 and said they could stretch it a couple more if they needed to.

Remember when that guy says "See you in another lifetime, brother," what is he implying? Is everybody dead?

I for one, was disappointed with the premier, but mostly just because I'm impatient and rather than answering ANYTHING it just created a thousand more!! The opening was SO bizarre.

You really think it was amazing? The whole conclusion and connection with the flashback seemed so forced.

Has this part been covered?

Isn't the hole in the ground where a few other survivors are hiding?

Just asking, I don't watch it much... have seen maybe 3 -5 episodes, inluding the new premeir...
