Default Need help cleaning codecs

Ok, so let's say that I want to scrub my system of all accumulated graphics codecs, and once the house is clean, I plan to reinstall the latest and greatest of the codecs I need. Is there a proper / safe way to do this?

Many thanks... That first one, Filmerit, is a pretty sweet tool. Only problem is that I have no idea which items are "safe" to remove and which aren't. On the flip side, it found some 90-odd codec-related errors, all of which it corrected.
