Unhappy AIW radeon 7500 help needed (no video files play when using tv out)

ok, after searching -countless- usenet messages on google, I finally found this forum

I'm really hoping someone can help me out here... I'm running XP with an AIW radeon 7500. Everything was working fine until I tried to run video out (through a vcr into a tv). Everything works great (desktop displayed correctly, etc), EXCEPT: when I try to play a video file (mpeg, mpg, mp2), or display the tv tuner, instead of the video playing I just get a black picture where the video should be Again, everything else is fine, it's just that when I try to play -any- video clip, I get a black screen within media player/the ATI file player. The video runs fine on the PC though.

I'm using the following driver: 6.13.10.6071.

PLEASE post any suggestions or advice, Thanks!

Search for Theater Mode or Primary Display and you will find a solution on this message board.

Thanks a lot guys! I found a way to enable hot keys to switch between 2 settings (1. both monitor and tv are viewable but video is only on the tv and 2. monitor and tv are viewable, but video is only on the monitor).

It's too bad there isn't a way to get the video on the monitor -and- the tv at the same time but oh well.... Thanks again!

That should work with Theater Mode enabled. Video full screen on TV, and at the same time on your monitor in a window (or full screen also).

hm... yeah I read about theater mode in on of the other links you posted, but unfortunately my overlays tab didn't have the checkbox even listed I'm going to install the new drivers that were listed today and just go from there. Thanks again for the info

Erractic1 and gbalight,

I`ve read your post so I`m hping you can help ME.

I`m building a computer for my sister in law. Anyway I was thinking of putting in the 7500 AIW card because of the Tivo features. There by no means gamers. Is this card worth putting in??? I`ve got to have this build and in her hands in a week or i`d wait for the NEW AIW comming out next week.

She will either use Win 98 or XP (not sure if she wants XP, she plays lots of older games).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank You.

P.S. It`s also got to be fairly trouble free (yeah right).
