I think Samsung default resolution is to reduce premature pixel burn-ins. It something to do with the green-pixels.

You won't notice the improvement with the higher resolution. There is a slight sharpness improvement in texts. It's hard to tell unless you compare it side by side. Use it if you're a purist and want to enjoy all texts slowly in the book you're reading.
