I think some of you have seen this before, but a search didn't find any appropriate hits.
When I capture to mp2 format using SVideo-In as the source, I get a great capture, but the audio is from the TV Tuner. Weird! Perhaps I'm doing something wrong. When I simply play an SVideo source, I get video and audio from the SVideo in, so seems that a capture should work correctly. No? Anyone know the trick to capture SVideo and audio? Help is appreciated... Win2k, SP1 Radeon AIW - 3102 drivers |
There is a DirectX 8.0 Digital Video(DV) patch that seems to fix this problem at

same problem here....
I'm dealing with the same problem, and haven't figured out how to fix it yet. Downloaded latest everything, and the capture still gets the audio from the TV tuner. What is bothersome for me is that the ONLY reason I popped $300 for the AIW Radeon was that I wanted to capture video from my camcorder.

I am still confused on this one. I don't have the audio problem but alot of others do. Is this problem related to the sound card? Also is it related to how you setup the TV Tuner. At one point is asks you to specify the audio input, I selected "line in" but there are alot of other options including "what you hear". (I have a SB Live!).
Try changing this option, it may solve your problem. The only way I know how to change it is to run the setup "wizard" again. |
Doesn't weem to matter what input source is selected. The confusion stems from the fact that the audio is being fed into the AIW through the imput connectors then back into the sound card. Some use line-in, others use aux in. The option to use What-You-Hear is only on Sondblaster cards.
But regardless, when capturing, no matter what the source, composite, svideo, tv, the audio is always from the TV. ATI's web site said upgrade to MMC7.1 and 3102 drivers. Been there, done that. Other posts have said update the DX8 DV Support, been there, done that. Still, audio is always capture from the TV tuner! ATI sucks. Always a problem... |
Another thing you could try in to reload the WDM TV Tuner driver under device manager->sound,video and game controller. Point to the directory with your current driver files. Also using newer drivers may fix this problem, I'm running windows 98SE, 7075 had the problem 7093 and 7099 didn't.
As a temporary fix I ran my audio from my camcorder directly into the sound card line input during record and switched back to the ATI input for all other modes, this works but its a pain, and you need to go to radio shack and get a stereo RCA to 1/8"" miniplug cable or adapter. |
External capture sources..
I'll assume you're using a Radeon. I ran into a similar problem with capturing from composite input. Just don't use the purple dongle thingie that ati gives you. have the sound from your source( vcd or whatever) go directly to your soundcard's line in. and switch to line-in in MMC.
hope this helps. |
Make sure you have the proper input selected in the "record" properties of the volume control, not just in the "play" properties.
