Been tons of discussion about AMD vs Intel and is X570 worth it, etc.; but if you're here, you're obviously not an Intel fanboi and you made the decision Zen 2 is worth it (if not x570).... so while this may be jumping the gun as mine isn't in my hands yet (is anybody's???) Here we go...

What'd you get, why did you get that one, where'd you get it from, what you putting it with....???

I went with the 3900x and x570 Aorus Master b/c this will be my system for the next 4 or 5 years. Hoping the cores and pcie4 will help it age slower. Board is from Newegg, CPU from Best Buy.

I'm getting a 3900X, but still undecided on the board. I'm definitely getting an x570 board though.

Just swapping my old 6600K and ASUS TUF board out and reusing the RAM.

Edit: Shipping confirmation with estimated delivery of Friday. Hopefully so, Would be a good weekend of playing around with it.

CPU from newegg.ca but shipped from USA, so that will be a while. Mobo was a pre-order from Amazon.ca on July 2, it hasn't updated to shipped yet. RAM was purchased yesterday, should ship today or tomorrow.

I could have made my current hardware last much longer, but I want to donate it to a family member that is like 4 generations behind.

Edit: Amazon.ca fugged up and there was never stock for the mobo pre-orders. Cancelled and ordered the same mobo from Mike's Computer Shop and it shipped same-day.

I got a used 3900X from Micro Center because that's all they had. Created a new thread because I asked questions on what to look out for. Did not want to trash this thread up.

Used? Already damn... how much did you save?

$75 plus I got my $50 CPU and mobo combo discount. So $125 total. Wanted new but they had none.

Reusing my Crosshair VI Hero
Will likely pick up some new ram as well to replace my aging memory, board supports some 3600 chips so will likely try and get something around there.

Then upgrading the wifes machine from a 4690k to my 1700x and will pick up a B450 Strix with the $50 discount from MC to use.

3900x was in stock at Newegg for about 3 minutes about ten minutes ago.
Grabbed one and cancelled my BB order. It said expected ship date is 7/10 so we'll see. Won't be here until Monday but I feel better it now.

Motherboard should be at the house when I get home. I guess I'll look at it for a few days?

Every system I have ever built I've done CPU into mobo first, then memory, then cooler, install into case, drives, psu....I have a routine that shall not be deviated from....but

Wondering if maybe I should do everything BUT the cpu install, then pop it in when it gets here, put the aio pump on and go!

Got me a 3700x when the came in stock at around 2pm yesterday
My MSI MPG X570 Gaming PRO Carbon WiFi is in the ether after ordering as soon as it popped up on Amazon on the 7th.

At this rate it looks like I'm getting CPU first even though there is a day and a half lead time on the mobo. Somebody out there is wormholing sheep and accidentally some UPS trucks I can tell ya that much >:3

Here is to hoping a convergence is happening and both show up on my door step tomorrow.

Oi they de-wormholed my mobo and it hit Kentucky with the CPU in Indiana on schedule for tomorrow. I may get convergence yet and have both parts arrive at the same time.

I'm having a hell of a time telling myself to not buy a new cooler. My kraken x61 is still going so strong. But I want something new to look at. :(. Most new ones even under perform compared to it.

Fancy. I shoulda been a contender and rolled the 3700x and MSI Pro Carbon combo from Newegg. I probably would have had both by now.

It looks like Gigabyte has some of the best VRM's for the x570 boards in the 200-220 dollar range.

Have not used them in many years how to they compare with Asus for bios update quality?

The mobo box was not sealed, nor was there any tape on it or evidence that there ever was any. Seems odd. My dumbass should have checked to make sure all the accessories are up underneath it, for all I know there may be a seal around the motherboard you have to break to get "into" it.



In other news, UPS says cpu delivery is scheduyled for tomorrow :D

Mine wasn't sealed either. It's just the way they come, at least the Gigabyte stuff. Probably pinching pennies.

You guys are making me want to get a new board but I'm having a hell of a time justifying the replacement of my Crosshair VI Hero. To get the same quality VRM, functions, etc I'd have spend like $300.

yeah, i'm trying to justify mine after the fact since newegg's return policy on it is replacement only, no ouiright returns/refunds. I bought way more mobo than I need. It's one of those I want it b/c I want it, so I got it. :hmm:
