Game FPS drops below 20FPS while running at 800X600. Old GeForce256 card got better performance.

i have been getting low FPS (Frames Per Second) in Counter-Strike ever since I got my ATI card. My Old GeForce card got better frames. It seems to be a driver issue. I've switched motherboard, tried different monitors (even though I doubt that would have anything to do with it), older driver versions did not solve the problem. If anyone knows of a fix please let me know. I've tried raising the voltage of my AGP slot in my bios to 1.7
its not a driver bug, otherwise tons of people would be experiencing it.
have u set the settings:
in the counterstrike config (or type it in console)
Truform will kill performance so u make sure its off.
Its likely you're system isnt working nicely together (it happens).
And as a last resort, you are to reformat.
Nvidia drivers and ATI drivers do NOT get along. If you switched u have to make sure EVERY BIT of nvidia driver trace is GONE. anything remaining is likely to cause an issue (although in some instances its totally random)
All your hardware drivers and stuff should be updated to the ABSOLUTE latest revisions. New stuff tend to have fixes to compatibility issues.
People actually still play that game?
stuff i've done
i've already reformatted multiple times. i've got the latest chipset drivers for my mobo. latest sound card and video drivers. idk what else to try?
Alot of people have the same problem you have mr. goodbar including myself which I just purchased a Sapphire 9500pro few months ago. No one seems to know how to fix it...
