Will Counter-Strike Driver Issue Ever Be Resolved

System specification:

P4 1.8A

Intel

SiS648

512MB PC2700

Asus P4S8X

Windows 2000 Pro SP3

ATI AIW Radeon 8500DV 64MB DDR

DX 9

GART version--UNKNOWN

Half-Life: Counter-Strike 1.5

800X600 OGL

4X Agp Fastwrite OFF

32bb Color 1280X1024 RR 85Hz

D3D/OGL VSynce Always Off
OGL TruForm App. Pref.

Game FPS drops below 20FPS while running at 800X600. Old GeForce256 card got better performance.

mIRC, McAfee, Remote Wonder, CloneCD Tray, Asus Probe running in background

i have been getting low FPS (Frames Per Second) in Counter-Strike ever since I got my ATI card. My Old GeForce card got better frames. It seems to be a driver issue. I've switched motherboard, tried different monitors (even though I doubt that would have anything to do with it), older driver versions did not solve the problem. If anyone knows of a fix please let me know. I've tried raising the voltage of my AGP slot in my bios to 1.7

its not a driver bug, otherwise tons of people would be experiencing it.

first.
have u set the settings:

Ati_npatch 0
ati_subdiv 0

in the counterstrike config (or type it in console)

Truform will kill performance so u make sure its off.

second.
Its likely you're system isnt working nicely together (it happens).
And as a last resort, you are to reformat.

third.
Nvidia drivers and ATI drivers do NOT get along. If you switched u have to make sure EVERY BIT of nvidia driver trace is GONE. anything remaining is likely to cause an issue (although in some instances its totally random)

last.
All your hardware drivers and stuff should be updated to the ABSOLUTE latest revisions. New stuff tend to have fixes to compatibility issues.

stuff i've done

i've already reformatted multiple times. i've got the latest chipset drivers for my mobo. latest sound card and video drivers. idk what else to try?

Not true. The 8500 has Truform hardware support, so that wouldn't be a problem for an 8500 user. I use Truform in CS, and it does not affect my frame rate.

Alot of people have the same problem you have mr. goodbar including myself which I just purchased a Sapphire 9500pro few months ago. No one seems to know how to fix it...

Eventhough taking numbers from Gamespy is pretty worthless, but overall it's true.
