Samsung Galaxy S10

Man Samsung is bringing the heat with this generation of their phones. Its the first time in a long time that I have felt I wanted to try Android again.

Top features for me:
  • Damn near full screen front
  • Fingerprint reader under the screen
  • Reverse charging(Im not sure Id use it but damn cool)

I also might get a pair of those galaxy wireless headphones as well pending reviews. The price is right.

Pre-ordered my S10 this morning with 128gb storage and 8gb ram prism black. Traded in my S8 64gb for 250 so cost me 549 overall. Joined the Samsung upgrade programme so I got 0% interest free over 24 months (20.58) and can upgrade to new phone each year. TBH I usually skip a generation but I might as well keep the money in my account if they're offering 0% finance.

Looks a nice upgrade over my S8. I'm already on Android Pie beta and UI so know what to expect and I really like them both. Looking forward to receiving it 7th March.

Ugh, hole punch camera setup. Really?
I dont like notches, I dont like hole punches. Just keep a slim bezel and call it a day.

logical Feb 21, 2019 05:01 PM

Hole punch is better than a notch. Especially if its off to the side like the S10. IMO.

Munkus Feb 21, 2019 05:08 PM

The S10 is a sexy phone, but not enough of an upgrade from my Note 9. Still loving that one.

KAC Feb 21, 2019 07:58 PM

Looks like a good phone for me to poop on.

I heard you get the galaxy earphone free if you pre-ordered the s10.

Any of you gays boning the fold?

It's bulky and it doesn't have the s-pen. 2/10 would not bang.:bleh:
Why would anyone want this? :hmm:

A2597 Feb 25, 2019 07:15 AM

yea, I really don't get the appeal of the fold.
And the front screen is tiny to boot. wonky cutouts when open...and again...why would you want this device?

Now, a TABLET that did that, rather than a PHONE would be interesting. We're used to carrying larger tablets/ipads. Mix in the stylus and they might have a market there.

You sure do. Supposed to be worth 130 so not too shabby. I'd buy the S10 anyway as I think it's a good upgrade from the S8 and fits nicely into my 2 year refresh cycle. If I had the S9 I'd wait till S11 or whatever it's going to be called.

Still rocking my Note 5.

Ain't paying $1000 for a phone. Just won't. $550-700 is my max price range for a phone with features similar to the Note 5.

Really miss all of those free phones and $1 deals with 2 year contracts from years ago, huh?

No. I paid cash for my Note 5. $550.

I came across a rumor, that the note 10 might move back to the flat edge screen instead of the rounded edge screen. God I hope so, loved my note 5, love my note 8 except for the rounded edges. Son loves his note 9. But in all honesty, I probably would go for the S10 if it wasn't for the rounded edges as I don't use the s-pen much anymore. But that would be the only reason I would rock the S10.. so I have no real reason to replace my phone right now.

Edit:

What I said above just went out the window, as some things have sorta changed. My girlfriends phone went on the fritz (she dropped it, and now she only hear stuff if it is on speaker phone - piece of crap LG phone). I was going to give her my old note 5 which is in perfect condition, and call it a day. Been wanting to get me a set of True wireless Earbuds for work, so I purchased the Jabra Elite Active 65T a few days ago. But then I found out I can get $200 trade in on my note 5. I get Samsung's new True Wireless Earbuds (wireless charging to boot) If I preorder. So with the trade in, the free True Wireless earbuds, the fact I really don't use the s-pen much over all, and the one annoyance of the note 8 that sealed the deal for me reared it's head yesterday when my son was in the car with me (slow bluetooth connectivity to my car's head unit, as my son's note 9 connects almost instantly where it takes over a minute with the note8) I decided rather than give my note 5 to the girlfriend, she can have my note 8, and I pre-ordered me the S10+. I will just have to wait about 6 weeks or so for the headphones (Returned the Jabra Eliltes).. no biggie.

Anyone want massive storage to go with their new s10? There's a sale on the Samsung 512gb microSD for $130 at Amazon.

Chuck Mar 4, 2019 07:47 PM

So Galaxy S10e or S10?

I really like the more compact S10e model but we only get the one with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM here in Hong Kong. Considering the S10 doesn't cost that much more do you guys think it's a better choice? Really hard to decide.

Is 128gb not enough for you?

It is enough cause I am looking at the Xperia 1 as well, but a 256GB storage and 8GB model would've been a no brainer for me.

I don't think you'll see any benefit with 8gb of RAM. I have the 8GB note 9 and app still gets reloaded despite having 2~3GB free. I think the extra ram is more useful for Dex desktop dock.
You can add microSd storage with the s10e.

I'm still on my Samsung Galaxy S6. Can't believe this phone lasted me this long, and it's still very fast for everything I do. The display isn't even outdated, it's as crisp and sharp for text and images as my wife's S9, even though the S9 technically has a better screen.

I'd be on my note 5 if the battery hadn't gone to crap, and if work wasn't paying for my phone upgrade.
Now Note 9...I don't see myself changing this phone out anytime soon. I mean...screen, water resistance, SD card slot, so much more. I don't really know what else I could want in a phone.

kboye Mar 6, 2019 01:06 PM

Yup the S6 is still gold, actually had an S8 during a development cycle for a few months, and returned back to the S6 :)

Edit: the S2 is still rocking Cyonogenmod hehe

Ditto. I paid extra for the 512GB Note 9, upgrading to this would be idiotic for me. Especially since it really offers nothing new I'd use. Still uses UFS 2.1 and the Note 10 is rumored to be getting 3.0 so that would be a bigger performance boost than the S10 gives. From what I've seen the finger print scanner is slower too, I don't miss it being on the front like I thought I would.

nycdarkness Mar 7, 2019 02:41 PM

So I've had every S phone and note. For people who are holding onto an old but recent galaxy. Samsung is giving 550 towards the new S series. Which is a no brainer as those phones are not worth that second hand at all. to boot you will pay the tax on the lowered amount and you get the buds for free which is a nice plus. I've had the s10+ for a bout a week, I ordered another 2 trading in note 8s I had laying around. So from the 999 they were like 460s each after tax. Hell you can buy a note 8 for 300 refubed in good condition and trade it in.

Now onto the phone. THis mornings update addressed my gripes with the fingerprint scanner. It seems much more reliable than before. My unit had a protector on it outta the box and it seems to be glass. I would summarize my experience so far with the s10+ being, it feels like Samsung made a better iphone without the IOS limitations. Samsung phones are usually pretty smooth out the box but move forward a few months what I call the Samsung expiration date starts to kick in. Ususally, past the 1 yr mark the phone is still okay but its noticeably worse than new. The s10+ for me outta the box had a level of butter that paula deen don't even have. I've been using the xs max and the note 9 since last year and yeah for once I feel like Samsung phone has the butter factor of an iphone. The toned down default without all the saturation is nice as well.

Exposed Mar 7, 2019 04:22 PM

That 550 is only for the S9 and newer iPhones.

My S6 is only worth $150. Not enough an incentive for a $1k phone. I'll keep using the S6 till it dies.

Link? T-Mobile (my carrier) is only saying $250 if found in good condition.
