New AMD certification suggests the “Nvidia Killer” Big Navi GPU release date is close

Greasy Feb 3, 2020 11:16 AM

Please be good! Also please don't release it at a $1200 price point.

pax Feb 3, 2020 02:33 PM

Saw a rumor of it having 8000 CU's. Trying to find that...

Looks like a new AMD gpu whether big navi or not is only about a month away:

https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gpu...raphics_card/1

Quote:

PCGamesN has noted that AMD's Korean RRA listings typically come roughly a month before a new GPU reveal. AMD's RX 5500 XT (D18902) was listed less than a month before the graphics card's release on December 12th, while the Radeon RX 5600 XT was registered on December 3rd 2019 and released on January 3rd 2020.

This suggests that AMD's new D30201 graphics card will be released sometime within the next two months, with a potential reveal coming during AMD's Financial Analyst day in early March.

Nascar24 Feb 3, 2020 04:25 PM

New cards maybe coming sooner than thought. Would have to believe Nvidia will release soon after if forced to do so.

Gandalfthewhite Feb 3, 2020 06:29 PM

NV would launch something I dont know if it would be 7nm parts.

My prediction
in between 2080 super - 2080ti perf for $699

DXR support that out performs nvidias RTX implementation

16 gigs of ram im leaning gddr6 but part of me thinks they may pull HBM out again for memory bandwidth to drive that monster.

250-300 watt peak power draw

Nascar24 Feb 3, 2020 07:02 PM

If not more then a 2080 Ti it will be a letdown, everything out there now states it is. More then a 3080 is doubtful.

bill dennison Feb 3, 2020 09:05 PM

with China and Asia in lockdown

both NV and AMD stuff maybe delayed

yeah but historically the hype train is wrong so.... im not holding my breath. If AMD comes out with a 2080 super - ti performance for sub super price it will be a win because it will start forcing NV to drop prices OR launch new cards. Especially if it has competitive performance with DXR enabled. IF AMD can get a card with DXR that out performs the 2080ti when both are using ray tracing it will be a win.

AMD's Radeon RX 5950 XT might arrive sooner than expected
Quote:

In the past, AMD’s Radeon RX 5700, RX 5700 XT, RX 5500 XT and RX 5600 XT were each released a month after passing their own certifications. This means that we could see a fresh batch of AMD Radeon graphics cards before the end of March, the Radeon RX 5950 XT front and center.

24gb seems a little much and costly :bleh:

Never say it's too much.....How about heavily Skyrim modded, Star Citizen @ 4K with max details, some few games with heavy mods? Better than let it uses your SSD as memory page. I would like to have 16GB at least especially the last time I played Deus Ex: Mankind Divided even if 8GB vRAM is more than enough to max the graphic settings. The frametimes was somewhat erratic....I had to downgrade from Ultra to High texture. It seem ran a lot of less hitches which is a pretty weird. :bleh:

Sasquach Feb 24, 2020 02:28 PM

OK so if i sell my car i may be able to afford a Threadripper 3990X and a big navi card with cash to spare?

Sign me up!!!

no i don't think 24gb of HBM2e will push them into NVidia stratosphere pricing

that is most likely a Radeon Pro Graphics card and the gaming card will be 16gb

but it is interesting they maybe going back to HBM memory with this HBM2e

https://semiengineering.com/hbm2e-th...-evolutionary/

or beginning to wonder if with double the 5700 xt specs and 24gb HBM if it is some form of MCM

Source (Guru3D): The twitter photo is a confirmed fake :(

Update February 26th, 7:53 - The SK Hynix team has contacted us indeed verifying our expectations, as well the technical configuration did not make much sense. The photo is fake.:

This is **** at SK hynix Global PR Team.

We have a great concern over your recent article about the AMD specs leaked: https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/am...4-gb-hbme.html The picture or the screen capture that CyberPunkCat posted, on which your article is based, is fake. First of all, the actual specifications of our HBM2e are wrong in the document.

You can check our specs in our previous press release: https://news.skhynix.com/sk-hynix-de...-memory-hbm2e/ The size of the chip and the bus doesn’t add up, if you do the math. Also, the Korean text in the document says “With Local Communities… 2020 Happiness,” which has nothing to do with HBM2E development.

Moreover, this part actually appears on the main page of our Korean newsroom (https://news.skhynix.co.kr/) as a title for one of our content. And as you can see, you can copy and paste the FY2019 Earnings part from our English newsroom: https://news.skhynix.com/sk-hynix-in...arter-results/

I’d also have to say this is not a document format we use at SK hynix. So, overall, this whole document looks very fake, which certainly undermines the original Twitter user’s claim, and eventually the credibility of your article. We are greatly concerned that this fake news might have some negative influence in any form.

We know something is coming out in March, probably some pro card, but these specs didnt make sense. ROP ratio to CUs didnt jive.

Su did say she would give out details of Navi 2 on the 5th tho.

Nobody should be expecting anything until the end of the year for consumer gaming card (high end). Up til the beginning of last month, until Su made a comment, nobody thought they would have anything high end until 2021. But of course, shortly after her statement in January, the rumor mill went into full production. Currently we have nothing but rumors for both AMD and Nvidia as neither has made an official announcement.

gamefoo21 Feb 27, 2020 02:10 PM

Ok...

The 24GB HBM card isn't Big Navi...

It's Arcturus and it's basically Vega 3. It's the professional card for crunching lots of big numbers very quickly. Render beast not a beast of a gaming card.

Sorry guys.

AMD GPU rumors are the worst...

Gandalfthewhite Feb 28, 2020 03:54 PM

people like adored spout pipe dreams as if they are reality and when AMD delivers a perfectly reasonable product the rumor goes nuts and claims that AMD is terrible and couldn't manage to deliver. Even though the rumors they pulled out of their butt were never really to begin with. That stuff drives me nuts.

Rumours always work like that. You're also forgetting publications publishing 10 scenarios within X amount of months, and then if one of these is close to the truth, you see the "ZOMG TOLD YOU SO SINCE LAST YEAR" headlines.

That's how it works unfortunately.
